Looks as if she was enjoying herself! Were there door prizes? I cannot imagine waiting for a TJ grand opening. But then, here I can reach any of 12 TJ store locations within 30 minutes... lol

Good for her. I'm just the opposite. When Trader Joe's opened here, I avoided it for the first two weeks!

How long did Janice have to wait in line? Trader Joe's has some awesome cookies that are only sold at the holidays. Chocolate Star Cookies -- shortbread cookies coated in dark chocolate and sprinkled with itty bitty white non-pareils. They are so good!

Lindsey_CA, will hear ALL about it, tomorrow, in water aerobics class. Janice is our instructor, on Thursdays. Those Dark Chocolate Stars sound delicious!

I go to TJ's at least once a week. They always have a sample and a free mini-cup of coffee. They have so many pumpkin items now you won't believe it. Cookies, cinnamon rolls, chips and lots of other things. I like some but not all of their products. Prices are good especially on basics--bread, milk, eggs, etc.

When are you going, Glenda? The store will probably be mobbed for a few weeks. I always go early because the stores are smallish and crowded later in the day. Let us know how you like it.

She looks like fun. We had Trader Joe's (one) open an hour from here a couple of years ago. I like the store for a few select things and try to make it a stop after Costco shopping. Did I make a special point of the grand opening or would I wait on the sidewalk for the doors to open? No (clearly I don't have her sense of adventure or excitement), but I'd miss it if not getting there once a month or so.

Waiting for your update, Glenda! How did Janice like Trader Joe's? How long did she wait in line? How long did the band (seen in the background of the first picture) play? Did she get anything special from the store for having been one of the first folks in?

I slept in this morning, Lindsey, and missed her. Here's the video with her speaking before the doors opened, etc. She's from California and flies there many times a year.

She does look like a fun gal! I go to TJ's once or twice a week---probably do most of my shopping there. They have an evil cookie that is like a Milano, but sooo much better. I shouldn't allow myself to by them anymore! Glenda, you'll enjoy seeing what they have (eventually,) because much of it is different from the norm.

California "accent." That's funny. I'm from Washington, and when I've traveled to other parts of the country my "accent" gets noticed. I just got home from 2 weeks in Boston and the New England states. "I pawked the caw," instead of the way I say it "I parked the car." I think that's an accent! lol. I bet you, Glenda, have a that nice, southern "accent." But I don't have an accent! Haha!!

Janice seems like a really nice person and a lot of fun. I had to laugh when she said that when she travels to CA that they stop at Trader Joe's as soon as they leave the airport. That's how we are with Krispy Kreme when we go to Maui!

I too laughed sephia! I lived in California before moving to Tennessee and have heard many accents in my lifetime. Californians don't have an accent. Too many people take classes to sound as non-descript as possible for acting. Unless she's, um, like totally a valley girl ;)

I heard no accent either but it seemed like there's a definite Valley Girl lilt in her voice. She's several decades too old for that to work for her, I wonder why she does that?

It's curious that she likes the fruit at TJs. I find it pretty so-so and rarely get any there. Flowers, yes. I'm not sure why she felt she needed to mention she's from California, twice in 25 seconds.

She seems to be an energetic person, the perfect type to be an aerobics instructor. I'm sure she gets people moving with her enthusiasm.

I am sometimes told that I have a California accent. I don't notice it myself, but it's described like some of my statements sound like questions, with a little lift at the end. I think as I get older I'm growing out of it as no one has said that in a while but I definitely heard it when I was younger.

I love love love Trader Joe's but the produce is hit or miss for me. I like their bananas, avocado, broccoli and some other stuff, but the onions always rot on me and the fruit tends to be unripe. I prefer Whole Foods for produce but that's expensive so I usually do a mix of 3 different stores for grocery shopping.
