Still having hot flashes at 60

I went off the pill at 52. (Just because it was time). Went straight into menopause. Have not had a period since. Started having hot flashes right away. It has been 8 years now. The frequency has slowed way down, but the intensity at night has gone way up. Don't have them every night. Can go up to 4-5 nights without one and then every night for a week. They are intense. I have to change my clothes. Anyone else with this experience? Thx

My sister will be 70 in November. Her meno started at age 56. Still has hot flashes quite bad, wakes her several times at night and several during the day. She told me she used hormones for about a year. Didn't really help - still had flashes. Her Dr put her on Effexor for about a year and she said that helped the most as she was able to sleep. With it she had some flashes but it did lessen them. She is currently not on anything and is contemplating going back on the Effexor.

My mom had bad flashes into her 70's. She never used hormones. She passed at age 78.

I started meno 4 yeas ago, now 58. Still flash but the bioidenticals help a bit. Still flash but less, meaning I might not have to change my clothes.

I've been buying it at my local health food store, but I'm sure I can get the same thing online for less $. I intend to do a search today (when I have a bit more time) to see who's got the best price. Oh, and this was certainly no comfort to me -- my mom, who will be 70 years old next month -- says she still has a flash from time to time. :-/

Hi debbi2006 i am 46 and perimenopausal and have been for the past year i too had a hysterectomy at age 30 i have also had blood taken to check for menopause but your really hit and miss with this method because it just doesnt show up anything unless your body id going crazy, i get mad hot flashes morning noon and night for about 16 days out of a month i know it menopause related because i now follow a daily chart since i cannot rely on monthly periods my chart helps me to see when im gona be suffering with particular problems the flashes are horrid uncomfortable embarrasing and i have no way of stopping them despite all my best efforts with various vitamin supplements, i have managed to get the palpatations under control tho apparently you can buy a product Mila chia seeds which stop the flashes buti cannot get them here in england you could try that take care hope you feel better sooner rather than later hun

No tanning been done here, vegetables and flowers are struggling. I'm in the PNW - Canadian side and it is wetter and cooler than normal. Flooding is becoming a concern but forest fires are not. I think our forest-fire fighters are in Colorado right now and before that they were in northern Ontario.
