buyer beware bogus 'pink parfait' stolen pics
Comments (24)James, you have every right to express your concerns. This is fraud because the seller is showing something that is probably not what he is selling. You and I have had so may pictures stolen and used to sell who knows what. Pretty pictures sell to addicts but there is nothing sadder than finding your cutting from that pretty picture is a mediocre flower and it happens to anyone in this business long enough. I am sure this is the case for you more than me because of your extensive purchases over decades. I once gave someone a G.S. that turned out to be a Lani, which was a step up in my book- but I gave them a G.S. later. Sometimes labels blow away or break and you just wonder what that plant is. But intentionally misrepresenting someone else's picture as that of your plant is fraud and ranks with breaking/stealing branches from other's plant....See More$ 70 Blanco Performa Silgranit II 1.75 Free shipping
Comments (40)Well ladies, the too good to be true price really was too good to be true. My shipment arrived today. A flat package that weighed 2 lbs. Yeah, it's a Blanco stainless steel 2.0 sink grid. This grid wouldn't even fit the 1.75 sink I ordered. Anyway, I immediately called and, although they were very nice, the bottom line is they offered me the $460 something sink for about $350 claiming that was the wholesale, zero profit margin, price for them. I said no thank you. They are processing a full refund and told me I can keep the sink grid to not have to go to the hassle of returning it. The customer service rep tried to be helpful, and when I questioned why they wouldn't honor their price, she sent me over to a customer service manager. He was also very nice, but wouldn't sell me the sink for $70. I'm not too upset as the sink was for our basement remodel that we haven't even started yet. I jumped on the price because it was an amazing deal. My first purchase from Wayfair. Browsing through their website, I think their prices are more expensive than other places on the web, so I probably won't make any other purchases there. For all of you who ordered the sink, be prepared to call and get a refund, because you won't be getting a sink. And if by some chance someone DOES get a sink, please let us all know so we can get the same deal. Thanks MMM for telling us about it. No hard feelings there - I was happy to try for the deal!...See MoreAmerican Range? Buyer Beware!
Comments (27)Final update: American Range refused to replace the defective range, so my purchase was refunded and the distributor worked with a nearby retailer to pick up the range about 1.5 weeks ago. I am glad to be through with American Range. I replaced it at the same time with a new Capital Culinarian 30" manual clean open burner range (MCOR304LP) that I bought through Eurostoves. We're still getting to know it but so far it's great. The burners are incredible! They worked like a charm with essentially no adjustments needed after installation. The three 25K burners are super strong on hi, yet they turn down to an incredibly small flame on low. It's quite the range of temperature. We only used the oven a few times thus far, but it cooked those items well (trays of bacon, a batch of muffins). The thermostat seems to be set for using convection, and when we don't want to use convection we need to turn the setting to ~25 degrees higher than the temp we want. For example, if a recipe calls for 350 degrees no convection, we generally need to set it to 375. When first turning on the oven, the initial heatup seems to turn off well before the oven reaches the temp setting. We found that turning on convection during heatup helps the oven get to the temp setting more quickly. The American Range oven behaved similarly, so perhaps pro style LP ovens work this way in general. The fit and finish is great. No scratches and everything is put together well. We haven't used the broiler or the wok ring yet but look forward to using them. My best moment thus far is when the CC brought ~6 quarts of water to boil (for cooking pasta) in like 5-7 minutes. I was surprised and elated! We are way, way happier with this CC than the similar-model American Range that did not work out for us at all. Cheers!...See MoreKinetico water softener overpriced?! Need suggestions....
Comments (22)Jake, I agree with you totally as far as overdoing with home water treatment. I took the Kinetico bait, hook, line and sinker. I wanted to make sure my water was safe, but I am on domestic water that meets or exceeds all federal standards and the Kinetico system was way overkill. That is my point. If you have a Kinetico salesman test your water, you will be told you need a Kinetico system and they are way overpriced as far us purchase price and long term costs. My experience with the K5 and Kinetico water softener I installed in 7/2012 started with a kiosk at Home Depot. I sent in a water sample and of course I was told I had hard water and would benefit greatly from a K5 and if I buy a Kinetico water softener at the same time, I get a 10 year warranty. We know how that story goes. It can be helpful to have a water softener and maybe you need a water filter at the sink for drinking water. The point is to have your water tested by someone who does not profit from selling you something. It is required for domestic water to be tested and to meet federal guidelines, and it is free to find out the results of the testing by the local domestic water provider. Once you learn about your water from an independent source, then do your own research to find out what you need, if anything, to clean up that source to your liking. The plumber I hired is from our local area and knows our water test results. He is familiar with the 3M system, which more than handles our water purification needs. I reviewed multiple Amazon verified purchaser reviews for the 3M system before purchasing. It is not perfect, but it is a reliable system that is user friendly. There are no Amazon reviews for Kinetico water softeners or K5s because of the proprietary Kinetico marketing scheme that locks the consumer in to one dealer that charges whatever they want to service the overpriced Kinetico system. The Kinetico dealer lives 2.5 hours away and knew nothing about the local water test results, but he did know how to recommend a $5000 Kinetico system, which I purchased. Unfortunately I learned that Kinetico is all about the sales and not about the follow up customer. service. Lesson learned about people's expertise online. None of us know each other and I assume that AIW and Jake are actually different people, but there is no way I have to prove that. We have to trust each other somewhat and online communication makes it easy to hide behind fake names and multiple personas. Bottom line is buyer beware. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, and there is no such thing as a free lunch....See MoreUser
