Starting a Dry Creek Bed at my Mountain Home

Cat Rowe

Hi all, I have a mountain home. In the back there is a sloped area where rain run off has created a bit of soil erosion in the shape of a natural tiny stream bed. I thought I would create a dry creek bed with lots of rocks that I have accumulated at my at-home garden over the past 25 yrs. to help slow the erosion and a look like it was meant to be. That area is also a view from a guest room so I thought it would make an interesting picture.

How do I start the dry creek bed? Should I dig some of the large rocks in a bit and then fill in with smaller stones, and then bags of river rocks in the intermost area?

Any thoughts and advice will be appreciated.

Thanks kindly.
