This is my 7th attempt to graft a Meiwa kumquat to any rootstock of my choice. All the grafts before turned up dead with burned looking buds. This one is different and this is one of my 2 in ground tangerine trees.

This is 4 weeks after T-budding. I use Teflon tap and wrapped it up to the slit base then inserted my bud holding on the leaf as a handle. I then wrapped around up to the leaf stem and crossed above the leaf stem to seal in the top half of the bud slice. I cut the leaf off and wrapped over the leaf stem-stump. I followed up with masking tape so I could get enough pressure to hold the cambiums tight in contact. When I slit the tree it bleed some so I know the sap was flowing.

What do I do next besides painting the trunk above white and I have already bent the tree down to the ground so it is only a few inches higher than the graft. The foliage is shaded by another tree pulled down on top of the grafted tree.

Thanks
