I HATE that when someone else leaves the TV blaring. If one person wants to watch TV they should be considerate to the other people in the house and get headphones. Some people put the TV room down in a basement, or sometimes even a dethatched room from the house so the noise will not bother anyone. Sorry, I just had to complain here.

As for hobbies, here are some suggestions:

church activities, prayer, bible study

learn a foreign language, world travel

join a women's club of some sort, maybe a gardening club

start a rose garden, start growing fruit/vegetables

It is usually much more difficult for women to get into hobbies because men are the ones who typically like building things.

Maybe there are some local activities you could do with your husband? Outings that are a few hours long, or little mini-vacations someplace only a couple hours away by driving.

Maybe you could work out at the gym a little and get your body in better shape. Or you could start going on hikes and do walking in the neighborhood, perhaps find a friend to do it with.

You could get involved in cooking and start getting some good recipes and try to impress your husband. There are many interesting and exotic meals from other countries you could make.

A TV blaring in the main room of the house is such a turn-off. No pun intended. I hate puns.

I've seen houses advertised that have a media room. At first I thought it was just an excuse to have a room without windows in the middle of a huge, whopping, expensive house. Surely such a room would be 'orrible. Now I think a media room is a great idea.

It's not just the sound of the blaring TV - it's the posture and the lethagy of the person or people who are watching it. Better that they be out of sight.

ETA: I'm not suggesting that your DH should be picked up and put into another room. I am sure he's tired after his day at work and he finds this the easiest way to wind down.

He gets up about 11 am, hasn't worked in years.

We both took early retirement. My idea of early retirement is doing things together while we are still young enough to have fun. His is snoring in front of the TV. He says he is doing exactly the right thing for his life, but it sure isn't fulfilling for me.

It's not that I can't find anything to do, its that I want to have some FUN, with my husband in the evenings. Now it's October, starting to get dark early and I dread all these empty night hours. I don't want to crochet, read more books, or contemplate my navel, I want to have some darn fun! With the man I married.

Same problem here. Unfortunately, I planned an active retirement with my SO.

I really heard #5 above: "Quit blaming him, etc." It has helped me a bit. I just go ahead and plan stuff, he can come along or not. U have to manage your own life, not wait for him to get vertical.
