I need to move a rather large calla.

I bought my house in December 2010 and in the spring of 2011 there was a plant which began emerging in the ell between the house and garage. It turned out to be a large calla, which I do like, but instead of the beautiful white flowers I was hoping for it instead has green flowers mottled slightly with white/cream, which I do not like. I have tried to learn to love it, but I have to admit that I have not found any love for it. I am disinclined to just randomly dig at it, I would like to dig it when dormant and eithr relocate it (doubtful) or offer it to others.

When is the best time to dig it? Sometime in the winter I would guess. Any particulars with regard to storing the bulbs?

Thank you all in advance.
