Sherwin Williams SuperPaint?

We just all the info from our builder and this is in the specs. I know nothing about Sherwin Williams paint as I've always used BM in the past. Comments? Opinions?

Builder's Solution Interior Surface Primer covered with Sherwin Williams SuperPaint flat zero
V.O.C. (volatile organic compounds) for walls and ceilings with SuperPaint Interior flat
or satin finish and semi-gloss enamel for trim.

It's one of their medium grade paints. I'm sure if you wanted to upgrade, it wouldn't cost that much more as the price of the painting job is mostly for the labor. I like Cashmere for walls if the customer wants a washable paint and Emerald would be their top shelf stuff (comparable to BM's Aura). I would use Pro Classic on the trim.

I agree it is comparable price wise, but IMO, Aura is a better product.

Very Interesting News for EVERYONE. I just got a call from the Benjamin Moore store that sells the paint to the painter. Apparently BM just came out with a new version of Moorgard and Moorlife that has a LIFETIME warranty like Duration. The best part is the price does NOT change. Just like Duration the product is thicker and uses some new technology. I hate to be the guinea pig but a life time warranty for exterior paint sounds appealing. The only catch is the warranty is available only on the Exterior paint line. Apparently they didn't upgrade the interior paints. That will probably come later. The new model number is N105 and N103. The additional (N) in the part number is the important part. That specifies that the base is the new concentrated mix that comes with the lifetime warranty. If anyone else familiar with this? That's just the way the newer paint resins are in the last decade. Since the low-VOC regulations started a few years ago, the solvents that were used in paints to allow longer "open" time, can't be used anymore. When I'm doing a room, I just cut in the whole thing. There's no way to keep a "wet edge" anymore. > When you're done cutting the room, start rolling...usually about an hour after cut-in starts. This requires a subtle technique alteration... * Make sure your cut-ins are feathered-down to a hazy edge. * I try to do about a 3-4" wide path. * When rolling over cut-ins, SLIGHTLY twist your hand to lift the end of the roller to BARELY apply ANY paint over the cut-in. * All you're trying to do is get a TINY bit of "roller-stipple" on the cut-in...NOT another full roller-load of paint. That's what leads to the "picture-framing/thick-edge" look. * 2nd-coat: Roller used normally. Just roll close to edge of cut-in. * Do it right, and the walls look flawless. Mine do. Faron

Wanted to share sort of a PSA to folks. I've used SW for 15+ years of personal projects and painting. I've used a few of their paint lines, but have primarily stuck with Super Paint in flat / satin for interior painting. We painted the interior of our home with SW Super Paint and kept going back over trying to see if the paint-crew used flat on the walls. I painted Super and Duration in the same sheen side by side and the super looks just bad. We had the exterior of our home painted a week ago by a paint professional who swears by Benjamin-Moore. I was skeptical at first, but I can certainly say their Regal paint is awesome. He explained to me that due to the size of SW and the amount of paint they sell, they rely on a few suppliers from China that take the recipe and ship it over. He claims there have been small differences over the last 2-3 years that have resulted in poor matching and poor variation. I'm very disappointed in the interior of our paint. Duration looks fine, but Super Paint looks cheap like ProMar or worse. Be aware folks!

I've used Superpaint and I like it (has held up well for about 8 years). However, I used satin, not flat. I also used the cashmere, which if I remember correctly, was thicker and nicer to roll on (which I'm assuming you're not doing yourself on a new build). Years later, I don't see a significant difference in the quality of the finished result. That's said, the cashmere I have is in a very vibrant kid's bedroom color, the Superpaint is in a soft gray.

Super Paint is a perfectly fine choice for walls. Not the best you can do, but it's fine.

Definitely would opt for a higher grade of paint for doors and trim. Like - I would go over budget if necessary to put the best grade of paint on doors and trim.
