The aorta is the body's main artery. It starts in the heart's left ventricle and goes down into the abdomen and then splits into 2 smaller ones.

Jasdip, that's what they call a "continuity error". There's someone whose job it is to note these things, but TV is made so fast, sometimes the "wrong" take is used because something bad happened to the "right" one.

Edit: I got curious so I looked it up. According to people who have been through it and lived, barely, exsanguination doesn't hurt, but the cutting does!

Wow, thanks for the illustration. Call me a dummy but I never realized the kidneys were so high. And now I see why some historians believe that when the Roman citizens called for "thumbs down" to gladiators in the arena, they were indicating a fatal blow to the subclavian artery.

My father-in-law had a Abdominal Aortic Aneurism -- a thin/weak spot on the wall of that artery. His doctor detected it, and told him that it needed to be watched, but he never told any of his family. One year his doctor checked it during a checkup and determined that it was swelling and perhaps getting ready to pop, so the doctor had him whisked off to surgery that day. That was a big shock to the family. The surgery was successful, and he is still going fifteen years later.

I lost track of the show several seasons back, but I was surprised to read that the two stars don't get along at all, and she's planning to leave the show. That would certainly change things, I imagine.
