Can you find this and then can it be cheaper?
Comments (18)Just fyi I really love the look of blue lamp shades too. I ordered one for my daughter's room and packed it up that same night. The light it shed was *scary*! It was so deathly blanched out and frigid; I hated it. In fact, it was the same lamp I see in renovated Chase Bank branches everywhere now! It came from Lamps Plus. I don't know whether you'd encounter a similar problem but at the time I wondered why I couldn't find hardly any blue lamp globes and then I thought I understood why! This certainly cured me of any more such hankerings. For me, never again. YMMV....See MoreCan you help settle a Range Hood disagreement?
Comments (14)Woo-hoo! Thank you all for your replies! We WILL be getting a range hood right away! :) We will look into the Zephyr Breeze II (thank you lynn2006 and mpagmom for suggesting it!) and the Broan QP130SS suggested by Co-Co (Thank you, Co-Co! Yes, I was the one who wanted the range hood right away. :) And your kitchen is Beautiful!!) lynn2006: there are some pics of our kitchen in progress on this thread (the PSA one about Adel White cabinets): http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg112152148332.html . While the cabinets are a contemporary Shaker look, our goal is to make them more cottagy looking (you can see the other kitchen components that we'll be using here: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg1017454917351.html). We got the chrome faucet (love it!), but I'm still undecided on the cabinet hardware. I'll probably wait until the walls are painted before deciding (they just have tinted primer now, which doesn't match the wall paint swatch.) Thank you all, again! You're the best! Let the range hood shopping begin! :)...See MoreCheaper to build up than out?
Comments (47)Well...as a retired architect and educator, I've never heard of the term "purpose based or driven architecture". Bob tells me I'm old and don't get out much any more...which is true. Why do you feel that every set of words must be an official term? No one is claiming that there is a term purpose based architecture or anything of the sort. They are simply three words used in sentence, a compound predicate with an object (don't quote me on that, my sentence diagramming is a bit rusty). I am most definitely not talking about form following function. Form is a purpose as is function. You can pretend that most tract builders don't have an architect, but they do. So you can defend the idea that tract homes aren't architecture, which again is getting a bit into silly semantics. Architecture is unfortunately a very broad term. Tract builders and drafters aren't architects Architect - from the Greek Arkhitekton which means master builder. It later came to mean superintendent and eventually what we have today. What we have today is a word with very broad acceptable meanings. In the U.S. architects have licensed the title, yet the term architecture is still very broad. You can assert that it means the earth is flat if you want, however, that doesn't make it so. I too have this friend who I feel can contribute our discussion, his name is Richard. Richard is mostly a great guy but a bit territorial, whenever I step into Richard's yard he will start yelling at me and then start chasing me until I leave his yard. The problem being that Richard often leaves an obstacle or two on the sidewalk so that walking into his yard just seems appropriate. The moral of this story is, don't be a......See MoreHELP! We can't settle on a siding color
Comments (10)The stone choice will factor in with siding color. What is the roof color? Cobblestone (warm) and Light Mist (cool) both look nice if they work with the stone. The Pearl Gray has a slight pink-ish undertone, but it could just be my screen....See Morechisue
