wanted: wanted: optimara little moonstone and trinidad ii
Comments (4)I would be willing to trade leaves for any African varieties you might have. I’m newer to the hobby but I have many different ones I’ve obtained by purchasing online. Many are still small so not quite at the point to cut leaves on most but I could some of them. I would love to have more optimara AV’s if you have others. I have “my delight” and “margit/margit II,” and both of those are strong growers and flower beautifully. Optimara AV’s are very expensive online and I haven’t ordered any from the company directly so not sure how they’d be packaged or arriving at the price most are around $15 a piece that I want. Thanks...See MorePachyphytum oviferum (moonstones)
Comments (36)CCC Crystal Star is not a store or garden center open to public regularly. They are growers and supply lots of plants to greenhouses (if you go to Terra or some others, check the labels - they label their plants, at least most of them). They are N. of Newmarket, so it is about 100km for you or so. They will sell to public, but you need to be careful about walking about not to cause damage, and really you need to buy a few plants to make it worth while for them - they do not have time to spend on just watching ppl. They will not sell all the plants they have - as Kevin already pointed out, many are owner's personal collection and/or mother plants they use for propagating. If you want to visit, you need to make appointment. Plants are not a bargain, but they have quite a selection. It may be best to know what you are looking for, maybe even call them ahead to see if they have the plant? I found lots of their plants at Garden Gallery greenhouse (Bradford or Barrie location), recently bought about 10. This time of year, many places are getting new shipments. I stopped by a smaller GH today, and they had huge echeverias for $8, size I didn't see before for such low (comparable) price. Didn't take pics since I forgot my cell...:( I didn't buy any, but was really tempted. There was good variety there. They has same (and some different) plants in 4" pots for $6, and smaller for $4. Also lots of plugs, but they were same price. They were from different grower, but not sure of name. I was surprised, and will go there again next week. So I would think that it is best to visit frequently (stores that are within reasonable distance)....See MoreFinally pink moonstones:) ID pls
Comments (18)Hey, yes breton is right, I was trippin' when I wrote above:-) Sedum craigii stays pinker all year. graptopetalum amethystinium was what meant above, but I'm not sure how to tell it from oviferum. Now I also see ads for Pachyphytum "Lavender Pebbles" and not sure if it's truely a different form from the p. oviferum or just marketing. The photo I posted actually has the sedum craigii planted in the from right corner. if you look close you can see it's leaves stal small, no matter how old it is or how long the stem grows. The grapto amethystinium leaves get bigger and fatter/rounder as the plant matures and elongates....See MoreFirst bloom: Colorado Moonstone
Comments (8)It appears it is going to really begin...Fernstone should open a couple tomrrow and several others won't be too far behind. There are blooms all over the place. Debra, Bullfrog Kisses has exactly two up...one tall thick gorgeous things and the other way down in the foliage....probably a comment on the yoyo weather. (freeze quite warm freeze quite warm.) Nancy, you compliment me too much.... it is more stubborness than talent, I assure you. There was a lot of playing and adding things, and so forth. I even made a joke block that I am waiting for her to notice....a have a book titles Hummmingbirds (spelled like that, and balanced on the "shelf" n such a way that should a real coffee cup be set on it like the embroidered one is, it would cause a crash and a mess. You can see it here. kay...See Morerosiewells7b
