Moentrol Shower Diverter: weak hand-held pressure?

I need some input from anyone who might have this valve connected to a shower-head and a hand-held shower wand. I wanted two single function valves; plumber convinced my husband that two would not be necessary; the Moentrol valve was fine he said. Well, it is not fine!

The shower-head seems to have enough pressure...the hand-held is so weak that it was a waste of $ putting it in. Do I have a faulty valve or is weak pressure the norm with a multi-function hand-held wand and this valve? I have the same wand upstairs on its own valve; water pressure is excellent.

i am NOT happy! I knew what I wanted...there would have been no issues! If low hand-held pressure is the norm, am I out of line to ask the plumber to share in the expense of putting it on its own valve?
