1 or 2 soap dispensers in kitchen?

New home, large island with a big farmhouse sink centered. Going to have a simple pull down faucet. We are definitely putting in one matching pump soap dispenser for washing dishes, what about a second for hand soap? We always have hand soap at the sink, so it makes sense to dress it up like the dish soap, but is it too many pumps and things? Thoughts?

I have one - only because the fabricators drilled too many holes...Otherwise I don't care for them either.

I too had this problem with an expensive Kenmore Elite but I decided not to let it bother me. I fill one powder dispenser and leave it open and make sure I have the Jet Dry department always filled. I never observed a lack of top notch cleaning after that, but I did give it to Habitat for Humanity when I got the top of the line Thermador (made by Bosch). The Thermadors and Bosch's are far better than the Miele's at their price points and they are at least as quiet as the best Miele's, which cost $1K more. Greg

Camii41, I realize your last post was over a year-and-a-half ago, but I'm wondering if you still have any extra Never-MTs. We moved and left ours behind and I'd love to have one after our reno in our new place is complete. I'm thinking you probably gave them away but thought it wouldn't hurt to check. Thanks.

Can anyone recommend a dispenser with a LONG spout? The one we have now (Price Pfister) has an utterly useless 2" spout. I have found a 3 7/8" spout, also 3 1/2", but am wondering if there are any that are longer. The new sink is 10" deep. We weren't going to get a new soap dispenser, but after reading this thread, I thought, "I don't want ugly bottles on my new granite!" I could do a rack mounted on the sink cabinet door, but I think the dispenser is neater :-) It just needs a long spout so it can actually squirt dish soap into the pots, instead of dribbling down the side of the sink. Will definitely get a NeverMT--so glad that I heard of it here!

>Thanks for the suggestion about Never-MT. I'd read about it on this site, but I do not have the space for it in my sink cabinet. Does seem to be a great idea though. Don't really follow this. It's basically just a bottle of soap with a tube stuck in it, so it doesn't really take up any space at all, unless you currently throw out any extra soap left after filling the reservoir on your dispenser. As cella says, lots of folks have made them. If you search you should be able to find the directions here.

I love my soap dispenser! It's so handy. I use mine for dish soap. And wouldn't put in a second one.

Ours failed - twice. Nasty to clean / nasty to fill. We don't use it any more.

I had a soap dispenser in my old house for 13+ years and now have one in my new house for about a year. I use dish soap in it, watered down so it doesn't clog up. Love it! I use a soap pump for my hand soap.

I was going to use a Never-Mt soap dispenser kit in the new house to keep more dish soap "loaded", but the way the installers put in the soap pump, I could not remove the bottle under the counter. So I just refill it from the top every few months. Not a big deal.

Have soap dispensers in MBR and kitchen and love them. Also installed Never-MT on every one of them, which I highly recommend. In my kitchen, I have dish soap (nothing as strong as Dawn) in the soap dispenser and use it for dishes and my hands. I've never regretted it, but YMMV.

Decided to go with 1, couldn't visualize two being 'balanced' behind the sink. I had a delta dispenser for 8 years at my last house and it worked fine (as long as I didn't overfill it!), so I definitely want one going forward. Thanks for all the thoughts!!

One is plenty for us. We use a mild soap (Seventh Generation) and it is fine for both dishes and hands. I do keep hand lotion below the sink, though.
