kitchen sink soap dispenser

When we redid out kitchen 2 years ago, we bought a new sink soap dispenser. Well, it just died after only 2 years of service. I think I choose poorly as I think this should last longer. The parts don't seem to be cheap plastic (but maybe that would be better for this application? I dunno.) so I expected longevity.

I can't find my receipt for this so I don't know where I bought it.

So, can anyone recommend a brand or kind of undermount soap dispenser?

If it matters, I'm looking for a brushed nickel finish.

Diluting the soap - what in interesting idea. That's certainly easy enough.

I'll google Mountain Plumbing. I'm not at all familiar with that company.

Thanks for the suggestion about Never-MT. I'd read about it on this site, but I do not have the space for it in my sink cabinet. Does seem to be a great idea though.

Whichever you choose, I've been told that if you dilute your soap, the dispenser will last longer.

The Hamat I bought was a piece of junk.

Try Mountain Plumbing...very well-made.

I have the Simple human dish soap dispensers. I use them for dish soap and hand soap. They work perfectly well. There are two styles and I have both styles. Good luck!

Can anyone recommend a dispenser with a LONG spout? The one we have now (Price Pfister) has an utterly useless 2" spout. I have found a 3 7/8" spout, also 3 1/2", but am wondering if there are any that are longer. The new sink is 10" deep. We weren't going to get a new soap dispenser, but after reading this thread, I thought, "I don't want ugly bottles on my new granite!" I could do a rack mounted on the sink cabinet door, but I think the dispenser is neater :-) It just needs a long spout so it can actually squirt dish soap into the pots, instead of dribbling down the side of the sink. Will definitely get a NeverMT--so glad that I heard of it here!

Google the "NeverMT" or "Never MT". But some people love them, and some people have not liked them at all. So it's a mixed bag. I find it's not that hard to refill my soap dispenser, which lifts from the top and you just pour in the soap, takes a minute, so I opted not to buy a NeverMT. If your soap dispenser is the kind where you have to go underneath the sink to fill it, it would be worthwhile to install the NeverMT.

I've been using two different soap products forever. It never occurred to me to use dishwashing soap for my hands. If it's so good at dissolving grease, it might be too harsh for my hands. As for the frequency of using dishwashing soap -- that's not what's driving my decision to have dispensers. I just hate the clutter and dripping soap at the sink. Dispensers look nice and are quite convenient. I've long had one for dish soap and wouldn't go back to using a bottle.

And purchase a Never-MT. I have refilled a soap dispenser for years (pain) and just put one of these in. I plan on getting the largest bottle of soap I can find at Costco.

These cost under $10, but someone on here made one for around $1 worth of aquarium tubing.

Don't really follow this. It's basically just a bottle of soap with a tube stuck in it, so it doesn't really take up any space at all, unless you currently throw out any extra soap left after filling the reservoir on your dispenser. As cella says, lots of folks have made them. If you search you should be able to find the directions here.

Oops, now I do see how this could be a problem if you have some kind of pullouts under the sink. Yeah, then you may not have room for the soap bottle behind.

Exactly. I have a pullout in the spot where the bottle would rest in the cabinet. I love my pullout (it is very useful to me) and it is in daily use, so the trade off is that I won't have a Never-MT.

It has certainly been a while since I last posted. We love our kitchen reno and are now beginning to work on other areas of the house. We will have our first wedding this summer, so I want to get some sprucing up done. Too many choices!!

A wedding...How exciting! There are murmurings of such a possibility around here, too...Maybe even 2. But this is just between you and me, so don't tell. ;-)

I'm excited for you.

My future DIL's family lives out of the country, so right now, I am both the mother of the groom and mother of the bride. We are praying that their visa application will be approved. They live in a country where approval is not a given at all. This weekend she and I are going to a class on decorating wedding invitations.

And I think a second wedding may be on the horizon also. But no bog announcement yet. ;-)

I have 2 KWC Primo dispensers installed about 6 years ago. I use undiluted Dawn. Never had a problem with either one. They were pricey and I don't regret it.
