My definition of weed is a plant that you don't want in any garden. Obviously that would vary widely among different people...I think this fleabane would deserve a spot in a wildflower garden or similar.

A little research via our dear friend Google discovered that --- Wildflower species with state endangered status that occur within NACE jurisdiction include Auricled Gerardia (Agalinis auriculata), Blunt-leaved Spurge (Euphorbia obtusata), Potato Dandelion (Krigia dandelion), ***Carolina Spinypod Milkvine (Matelea carolinensis)***, Creeping Cucumber (Melothria pendula), Swamp Lousewort (Pedicularis lanceolata), Rustling Wild-petunia (Ruellia strepens), and Veined Skullcap (Scutellaria nervosa). Do we contact someone at NACE about our tiny localized find? Nurture it and try to propogate more? I agree and think it is coral bean. I think I will keep it where it is. I found one growing in the back on my property to. An exotic looking bloom I can look forward to in springs to come. Sam
