speed queen gas dryer?
Comments (1)Jean, I seen this post and wondered if you bought the SQ gas dryer and how its worked for you? I have one being delivered in 2 days. Also I've been used to a lint screen on top of the dryer, hate that, how much less messy is a front screen? Thank you...See MoreSpeed Queen - Digital or Manual
Comments (14)Jonathan, I've had both through the years. a few thoughts to consider: Electronic blue LED puts a very soft glow in the laundry room, kind of nice Electronic display shows time remaining visible from a distance, kind of nice remembers last cycle, unless you change it, it stays there, no timer to advance default auto dry is medium heat, it takes longer, but clothes seem to last longer Monitors and auto adjusts for your average cycle time, in a way a diagnostic tool. If I see it increase from 52 min for hot normal wash with an extra fill, then I know something is clogging a water or drain line incredible control/bath flexibility, but I must admit I use normal hot 95% of time error codes; gives you feedback, like when you forget to turn on the water lines; could help you solve the problem rather than an expensive service call kid idiot proof, believe it or not today's kids understand the electronic stuff better than the manual stuff, at times, my four minions aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, but they have not messed them up moisture sensing - it really works great, particularly saves $ on small loads No regrets. BTW, my oldest son still running my old set, and my old old SQ set has been running 15+ years of light use at my moms cottage after retiring from my laundry room in 1998, they are from circa 1992. Comments (13)There's very little difference in dryer technology from one to another. A cylinder and motor to rotate it, blower to move air, heat source, and time/temperature controls. Basic models typically have two, maybe three temperatures and timed or thermostatic autodry cycle control. Possibly a drum light. Step-up models add more temperature choices, moisture-sensing autodry, larger capacity, electronic controls. Models that claim energy savings do so by operating at lower temperatures for longer time if said option is selected. There is one choice that is substantially different technology .... Whirlpool is offering a heat-pump dryer that also has an electric heating element that operates on some cycles for speedier drying (the heat pump part is slower but saves a lot of energy)....See MoreSpeed Queen dryer not heating
Comments (33)Aww MamaP. Great news and kudos to you going without a dryer for so long. I've had to do that always for 6 week stretches and in the winter one runs out of places to hang things to dry indoors--at least at my house. It would drive me to madness. I'm sure it was a balancing act for you and yours. I hope your propane tank stays full for a long time and your dryer is a good sport indefinitely now. I'm disappointed a SQ dryer had a malfunction so soon. They are not economy priced machines....See Morelarsi_gw
