Uplight in ceiling fan - any recommendations?
Comments (11)johnstaci, Both, LOL I expected the lights to put out more light. Even with the max watt bulbs, it only gives a "night light" effect. It does not wobble and I have not noticed the shadows from the blades. If you have a balcony overlooking the family room, make sure the top of the uplight looks nice. I could not see the top of the display at the showroom so did not notice the top of the fan until I could see it from the balcony. I think it is basically too far from the ceiling and too far from the floor to be effective. We did go with a very large fan so I am disappointed. The globe to the light on the bottom of the fan is a gold tone so I know that dims it some. I hope to have it changed out in a year or so. I have not yet as it will be a pain to do. I do not mean to be negative but I wished I had done my homework and asked more questions before my fan purchase....See MoreUplight in ceiling fan--any recommendations??
Comments (3)I have a Minka Aire Volterra in my guest bedroom and I love the uplight feature. I wish the fan in my MB had one. I'm very pleased with the Volterra. It's quiet, the traditional styling looks great with my vintage mahogany furniture, and it has a relatively low profile which works well in a bedroom (not an issue in a great room, obviously). It comes in 2 sizes (52" and 68") and several colors, and a nice wall switch is included. (You have to buy the remote separately.) This model probably wouldn't work for your room, but you should definitely check out the other Minka Aire fans with uplights. Here is a link that might be useful: Minka Aire Volterra...See MoreCeiling fan very close to ceiling? Recommendations?
Comments (4)You might like the fans (there are some nice "huggers") at Modern Fan Company, or from Minka-Aire (like the Artemis style--the blades are very interesting, there's even an etched-glass blade option. Cool, but I don't know if I want to clean that!) I have 2 Minka "Concept" fans and 1 Minka "Cirque" fan that do not seem to be noisy to me. If I recall correctly, in the box were 2 different lengths of the hanging tube. Both have their own websites, and I think the fans are also sold elsewhere on other websites. (I used one of the Concept fans in my smallish bedroom. Not overwhelming. I go for contemporary styling, too.)...See MoreCeiling Fan Recommendations (for Bedroom)?
Comments (8)I'm having a lot of difficulty finding a fan because I would like to be able to separately control the light and the fan. The idea is that I would like he light to be controlled with the same Lutron dimmer switch that I'll be using for my potlights. Is this possible? It seems that many ceiling fans come with remotes/receivers that make it more difficult to independenetly wire the light :(...See MoreUser
