Anyone use Home Depot stock Vanity? Pics?
Comments (2)I bought a vanity at Lowe's that i haven't installed yet, but I like the look--dark brown with a travertine top. It was around $450 for the whole thing with sink and top. I also bought one from Ballard Designs for $350 on sale. It is 36 inches and came with top and sink too....See MoreAnyone use Allure vinyl flooring from Home Depot?
Comments (1)I haven't bought it yet, but I certainly intend to. It will be going in my master bedroom where I have my son and his fiancee. My son was so hard on the carpet the previous owner put down (cheap, builder's grade), I put down a laminate floor so I wouldn't have to worry about stains. Laminate wasn't much better and isn't much good overall. Every place where my lazy son has spilled a drink and didn't immediately wipe it up there is a nasty raised area between the seams. Furthermore, even the tiniest amount of "play" in the subfloor can cause the floor to click and pop (at best), or worse it can cause the locking mechanism between the planks to break. I said all of that to say that with Allure you won't have to worry about spills because it is a vinyl floor. If you ever did have to replace a "plank," a razor knife, a scraper, a little finesse, and 10 minutes is all you'd need. If you have laminate, you'll have to remove every plank all the way back to the wall. I've seen this stuff in a completed room and the only thing that looks and feels more like real hardwood is actually real hardwood. I can tell a laminate floor from a mile away. If there's a Wal-Mart near you they may have a similar product on the floor of their shoe department or clothing departments. I've also seen similar stuff used inside Tractor Supply stores. If there is a Lowe's near you, they have an alternative product by Armstrong. It doesn't seem as substantial though. Also, Lowe's carries a vinyl plank called Novalis which is actually a lot cheaper than Allure and I've read really good reviews about it. With Novalis though, it is a traditional "peel and stick" type plank, so the subfloor would have to be prepped much more thoroughly. I've provided a very helpful link I found. The guy putting this stuff down is a real contractor! Here is a link that might be useful: Allure installation...See MoreAnyone used Home Depot??
Comments (10)We used HD Thomasville as well, and Silestone via HD. Do a search for Quartz and you will see the finished kitchen pics. Same thing here - we got numerous quotes, and in our area, we got the best deal via Thomasville. We did use our own contractor for install, as HD contractor prices ate up all other savings we got by buying materials through them. We also got an 18 month same as cash which was the deal maker for a bunch of reasons. Hd contracts out with a local Silestone dealer / installer. These people were amazing! They templated via lazer, a fascinating process, and the install went without a hitch. They were very intentional about making sure all was ok. From what I've read here, I don't think every quartz / stone contractor HD uses is as good as what we've got here...not sure about that one. We got our sink via the fabricator, facets and bs via other vendors. But, we got our stove via HD by doing a cost match. We found the item online via another vendor, cheaper than HD online price, and they honored the cheaper price we found. One of a bunch of ways they helped us lower costs. Oh...and we did purchase our counters and cabs during sales. That made a big difference as well. Sometimes they are HD sales, other times the sales are generated by the product,s manufacturer, I.e., Thomasville and the quartz dealer. The only place I felt HD wasn't a good deal was on their install / labor prices. We did work with a KD at no additional charge. She came to the house, and worked with us for hours. She was very experienced, and taught us things we didn't think about despite getting about 6 other estimates. So, we are happy campers. We love our Thomasville cabinets. Our contractor's friend is a high end home builder. He was here often during install and was impressed with their quality. (I'm not skilled at evaluating such things.) One cab was damaged during transit or at the factory, and we got a no hassle door replacement delivered to our home. We wanted more shelves, thinking they shorted us a few, and they sent us extras. Very responsive. Have fun deciding!...See MoreHome Depot and Lowes not stocking supplys like they used too
Comments (43)@emmarene "exactly where I am going to plant it".....wait, please, I can't stop laughing...... Cistus are just the absolute best...love cistus. Just thinking that I'm going to WM and pick up some potting soil, will check on whether or not they have steer manure....in hopes. I use a lot of nassella tenuissima / Mexican Feather Grass and yes, I do get a lot of seedlings to use elsewhere. I do think I've reached the point of being able to just weed them now, have potted maybe 100 in the last several weeks. I think of them the same as anything else that reseeds a lot, I would rather weed the seedlings than do without the plant. Since I'd last read that HD and Armstrong nurseries had "vowed" not to sell the plant due to its invasiveness, I noticed last week that WM must see potential there as they are now selling it....LOL......See MoreNothing Left to Say
