Too Hot To Handle!
Comments (4)Hi, Have to give you some of my experience with adding worm castings too quickly. I had thought they would be great for when we transplanted our basil out of their germinating container....but we were wrong! We have our own worm bins and so we had fairly fresh vermicompost...obviously too fresh because what you are describing happened to our basil, but it was not light damage. Now you may indeed be seeing light burns on your plant, but for our basil we had to actually get them out of that soil/vermicompost mix....and they perked right back up. As for when we transplant....I typically t.p. mine out as soon as they are big enough to handle...to no ill effect. Sometimes waiting too long creates lots of problems with roots being intertwined. So what you have does not sound like a transplanting issue. One last problem you might encounter as well is moisture transport with compost. Not sure how much you put into your mix, but compost does interfere with the wicking capacity of the soil. This is not to say compost is bad(heck no), but I have seen water issues arise. For exm. our square ft. garden bed is made up of mainly compost...and the surface quickly dries out and gives one perception, but just a few inches down another thing quite differently is going on(very wet soil). So you might want to really give a good look at what is happening in those containers. good luck m...See MoreFront door interior handle keeps coming off
Comments (12)The bent end goes through the lockset, to prevent it from pulling free. There must be a setscrew on the knob to secure it and clamp the two halves of the shaft together. Perhaps someone replaced the knob with an inappropriate type. Lots and lots of vintage knobs on ebay, but you need one threaded for setscrew. Casey...See MoreFront door handle replace or refinish?
Comments (3)Yes you can find a new lock to fit your hardware prep. A quality entrance lock is fairly expensive so refinishing would be with it....See MorePull Handle Front Door - HELP
Comments (7)You either use a pair of roller latches or a pair of magnetic latches in addition to the deadbolt. I am planning on a door with a 5 foot pull handle but I can't decide which type of latches would be best. A friend has the roller latches and is not happy with them because when it is super windy (which happens often where we live) the door blows open. I have an outswing door so I wouldn't have that particular problem. Doesn't help my delemma though....See Morejoyfulguy
