And here it is:-
Author (nationality) Title (imprint)
Marlon James (Jamaica) A Brief History of Seven Killings (Oneworld Publications)
Tom McCarthy (UK) Satin Island (Jonathan Cape)
Chigozie Obioma (Nigeria) The Fishermen (ONE, Pushkin Press)
Sunjeev Sahota (UK) The Year of the Runaways (Picador)
Anne Tyler (US) A Spool of Blue Thread (Chatto & Windus)
Hanya Yanagihara (US) A Little Life (Picador)
Disappointed that The Illuminations and The Moor's Account didn't make the cut.
Appalled that Satin Island made it.
And though I've only read 2/3rds of the book, A Little Life is going to win. You heard it here first !
I have to read the rest of A Little Life, A Brief History of Seven Killings and A Spool of Blue Thread; I will give The Year of the Runaways and Satin Island a second try. If I have time, I'll re-read The Fishermen and possibly A Little Life again.
Winner to be announced on Tuesday 13th October.
I'll be reading and reviewing up till then!
