It was just a bad dream right?
Comments (2)Florence, Your very kind words had such a calming soothing effect on me. I read your message and literally said out loud....awwwwwww....thank you so much for turning my day around. Sometimes all it takes is just a very small kindness. I promise I will pay it forward to someone else today. PLEASE please let me know if there are any get-togethers.The problem is I too have a very very busy summer myself tho. Can you believe 3 weddings, 3 engagement parties, 4 bridal showers and I'm a bridesmaid too?..whew...so I completely understand. I truly love reading your posts and seeing your lovely roses. I always know I'm gonna smile when I see you here or in the rose forum. Please have a blessed rosey day. Becky...See MoreSleep Apnea
Comments (35)I went thru some old records and I was wrong about the six years. I think it's 4, which is still a long time. And yes, it has not been an easy journey for me. It is again very difficult these past few weeks. I had hoped that I would have been able to just pop on the mask, go to sleep and everything wd be fine and that didn't happen. I have insomnia along with other maladies. Just after my sosa(severe obstructive sleep apnea) diagnosis, I had surgery for a septal deviation and I don't think that was a rousing success, but I cannot recall the level of breathing difficulty I had, but it ain't perfect now. A nose spray helps occasionally. My sleep dr. calls it or me.....complex. (sounds polite, wouldn't you say?) Lars, interesting that the sleep dr. feels that the mask is not the cause of your anxiety and of course that's true, but anxiety is still a common reaction to the mask. And this kind of leads into what I was thinking in my earlier posts-about it being a young science, and believing in your own gut, and "sleep dr., just fix me-in the current imperfect state that I'm in. Yes, I have a few warts, anxiety being the one wart in the forefront now, but ..." Otoh, maybe these newly diagnosed sleep problems bring every big and little complaint, imperfection, trouble, symptom to the front and center of our worlds,--I cannot clearly articulate what I'm thinking--Is this the case that, finally, someone is paying attention and we have to spill our guts with each malady plaguing us? or should I just speak for myself, in this instance? Lars, why do you think your body is not in balance? Unless you have lab results that tell you of this imbalance? There's a lot of 'good health' in your activities, such as your wonderful hikes, and your gardening, and cooking, and jack of all around your house,--and certainly your artistic abilities to see art wherever you look, and I'm not referring to your professional work capabilities but your vision as a layperson/human -altho that's mental rather than physical. I just think you have a lot of good health showing, too. Perhaps there is a component to these sleep issues where the patient becomes more aware or somehow feels a need to discuss/ address each big and little thing? Does a sleep dx open a can of worms? And then does the sleep dr. adequately respond? or kick it to a colleague? Is it just because a forum for complaints opens up? I dunno. I don't even remember everything, The headgear used to pull my longish hair out. After sleeping with a satin shmattie over my hair, under the headgear, I finally cut my hair. I had nasal deviation surgery. I did finally start losing weight, about 40 lbs. so far and I'm eating the same! (Getting your attention, now?lol) I addressed my pulmonary problems and now take a boatload of pricey drugs. Lotta babbling on my part, here....See MorePacifier problems and bad dreams!!!!
Comments (7)My so was about 2 1/2 when we decided to take the pacifier away. He would suck so much on his pacifier that a small hole would end up on the bottom. Well when he sucked it after there was the hole , it made a strange sound he didn't like. Needless to say I decided not to replace the pacifer (as I had done in the past when this happened)and told him it was broke and there weren't any more to buy!! I guess he bought this. He would put it in his mouth and it would make the sqeak squeak sound he didn't like with it having a hole and he would take it out and complain and I would say how it was broke. At bedtime I began to lay in his room on the carpeting as he went to sleep...next I moved to the hall...in the hall he could not see me and would ask if I was still there...this made him feel comfortable knowing I was around. I would stay there until I could he went to sleep. The eventually it wouldn't take any time for him to go to sleep and I would very quietly move further away from his room. It actually took about 2 weeks, and I was a stay at home Mom but it did work. I selected Christmas holiday when I knew my daughter would be out of school and I could be more flexible with her sleeping in case her brother while getting off the pacifer cried and kept her awake for a long time. He did do some crying at first but then stopped. This method may seem strange, but it worked for us. I guess everyone has their own way of doing it, but after a few days of trying off and on to suck on his pacifer and it making a loud squishy squeaky noise he more or less went cold turkey on doing without the pacifer that was broke. Good luck! ~Lynn~...See MorePainted Hinges Bad Dream
Comments (20)OT about clay and foundations: Clay can take a long time to settle, so if the site is graded at all, or when the foundation is dug/utilities installed, even if that soil is recompacted, you can hardly get clay to its maximum compaction even when you try hard, and many do not. My house here in MO was built in '89, walkout ranch, so the ground slopes down on either side of the house from front to back. Soil is clay. After the 2012 drought I really noticed the ground sinking around the house. My neighbor had their water supply line break under the front yard. I've had to raise my air conditioner as it had sunk below the elevation of the surrounding yard. Couple years ago I had someone fix the sinking driveway where it met the garage slab, and we found a foot deep VOID all along the front of the garage. Good thing I had that filled before the driveway slab cracked. And I'm adding soil all around the foundation to keep water draining outward. Clay can be a pain....See Moreplllog
