I had a good kitchen dream a few weeks ago. We had moved into an old Tudor house, but it had a terrible kitchen. There were opportunities to tear down walls, though, and make a great space. I was having fun laying out the space and choosing materials when I woke up.

You are beyond TKO! I haven't had a single one yet, but perhaps I'd better not speak too soon...

OMG, that picture is hilarious!!

We are in the design phase of our addition/renovation, and so far most of my nightmares are still in my head. They involve what I call "gotcha!" items--like that post where the person found out that her 'deep' drawers were only going to be 6 inches deep, things that I didn't know to ask about and didn't anticipate, and once they're in, they completely awful and we can't afford to change it. Those are my biggest worries--and I hope they never come to be real ones!!!

My poor psyche! Yep - I have had bad dreams, and a pretty rough reality in the daytime.

Not one cabinet or cupboard in my kitchen was the way we had planned it. The only things that came out as expected were the parts of the project we did ourselves with other contractors, not the Wood-Mode kitchen design people.

Glad my sink wasn't pink though - - -gotta keep beet juice away from it!

Yes that picture is funny and it gets your point across perfectly since it really should read "no hablo inglés". lol

country_smile, I had that at first, and even hit submit, but panicked thinking someone might be offended. So I quickly changed it, and made the language a remote possibililty instead of something that might hit too close to home. I was just amazed to have seen a real picture of a red sink.

jsweenc - Languages interest me so I had to respond when I saw the grammar problem. I didn't realize you changed it to German until now. I'm surprised you were able to go into photobucket and change it without breaking the link.

The OP said in her dream the GC didn't speak English but she didn't mention what language the GC spoke. One day when the painting subcontractors were working my daughter came home from school, entered the kitchen and said, "good afternoon" to the two workers and they replied in their thick Russian accent "good afternoon". Then she said, "it looks really nice", to which they responded "good afternoon". That told her all she needed to know as to how much English they understood.

Too funny - I bet you were mighty relieved to wake up from that dream!

I haven't had any nightmares because I haven't been able to sleep. A few nights ago I was so worried about my choices that I posted pics here of them, and the general lack of response seemed to confirm that my kitchen may turn out to be one of those in which the proper response may be, "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".

So last night after 2 sleepless nights of worry and tears and freaking out, I finally had exhausted myself so much I could do nothing but lay it down in surrender and trust my instincts and those who've told me it's going to be great, including the decorator/designer who picked several of the elements (which I adore) and whose taste I trust implicitely.

Needless to say I slept a dreamless sleep - a whopping 6 hours - and it was good :-). And I feel better now.

It's a little crazy how renovating a kitchen can so take over your life, even in the night time hours!
