miele w4842 owners..do not set hygiene info to off
Comments (5)Suds Cooling ON only applies for water that is heated above 160F. Since the maximum temperature of the W4842 never gets that high, the feature doesn't seem to apply. I hesitate to turn on anything that wasn't turned on at the factory with the exception of Maximum Water Level, which is advisable for people with soft water. Also, make sure you have Water+/Extra Rinse turned on, not just Water+. If you don't have both turned on, you will lose the 2nd rinse. I read elsewhere that you only turned on Water+. Water+/Extra Rinse is on by default. You can check your firmware version by holding START, closing the door and pressing START 3 times then holding on the third press. The first option will give you what I presume are your software versions. Mine is ELP:1827 and EW:1828. Also make sure Fascia Type is set to "Express", as this determines how your Express wash button functions depending on how the button is labeled on the panel. Also I have both ON and OFF options under Automatic Load Control, not OFF and OFF as others are saying. One of us must have newer firmware....See MoreKeep White nylon/poly-cotton garments white?
Comments (14)Try about a 1/4 of a cup of the Peroxide, along with your normal dose of good detergent. The warmer the water, the better, but not necessarily 140 degrees. Again, it will most likely take numerous washes to release all of the grayness. I do laundry for my aunt, who has tons of nylon and other synthetic materials. Over the past year or so, I have managed to get them all white again, after years and years of cold/cool washes and cheap detergent. It will take time, patience, and trial and error. If you truly love the garments, then it is worth the time and effort, IMHO....See MoreEgyptian Cotton Sheets (WHITE) Wash Temp?
Comments (68)Whirlpool - nothing the matter with that routine. My household sheets are washed weekly at 158F, with a 5 min bleach at the end, triple rinsed and dried. Zero problems here. My household Towels which are used once are light soil and washed at 120F 15 min. Wash and 5 min Bleach with two rinses and a finish softener in the third. They come out better and softer than using a Sanitary cycle, and just as clean and sanitized with the bleach. Zero problems again. Ya have to do what works for you, but my personal opinion is I process the laundry in the most cost effective, time efficient manner while ensuring excellent clean, soft, and sanitized laundry....See MoreMiele Ultra White, STPP and 160F whites wash
Comments (10)I do prewash IF the soil level is enough to turn the wash water dingy or dirty, otherwise expecially on whites the fabrics will absorb the soils into the fibers causing dingy whites. I also do a long prewash IF I'm going to boost my water temp up to and/or above 140F since 140F will disable the action of enzymes. Miele Ultra White detergent. ...I LOVE this stuff, the scent is absolutly lovely. I don't think it works as well as Tide with Bleach powder, but it is a fantastic whites detergent. Anyone know if it contains a bleach activator? ? I also LOVE Miele Color Care, it works well for colors, I will say for heavy soils it needs a tad bit of help from my favorite booster, STPP. For those of you that want to try the Miele line of detergents, if you can find a Miele dealer even just a Miele Vac dealer they will get it for you and no shipping....See Morerpsinfoman
