I don't have a solution, just a few questions that might help someone else help you...

(1) Can you try the mouse on a different computer?

(2) Can you try a different mouse on your computer?

(3) Does the mouse fail to scroll in text documents as well as the browser? (If only in the browser, which browser?)

1) Don't have second computer, maybe ask a friend. 2) Don't have any other mice. 3) It fails to scroll in any app. Good questions, thanks. Knowledge is power.

My guess is the mouse is listed as a Microsoft mouse as it is using a generic Microsoft driver rather than the dedicated HP driver. Historically, if I am correct it would not be unusual to loose some functions.

Have you tried a complete shut down versus a common restart? I just read sometimes........

Isn't there a model number for the mouse somewhere on its body? Or in the Device Manager?

Also, you could try to update the mouse driver through the Device Manger by opening the appropriate entry and right-clicking on the revealed contents.. On the appearing drop down menu should be access to update the driver.

Yes, I did try shut down, then powered up again. I usually do that rather than restart. I can't find a model number, but did find a name, it's not listed on wired mouse on HP pages. The device manager lists mouse as usb mouse, unknown, or M$, which is not correct. Right clicking on mouse in Device manager only gives me the M$ info, no info that is specific. Obviously is using M$ driver, which I cannot find a link or drop down to use to install driver. Seems like removing Win10 causes more problems than I had trying to use it. Will continue to investigate HP page for other updates. I have installed a few, just not the mouse one. Elusive little sucker. Thanks for the ideas.
