Barb, far as I'm concerned most any sport is worth saving. I'd leave the shoots on the main plant this year to 'beef up' and see what becomes of them next year. I once had a sport on a 'Hyacinthina' that I waited 4 years before I separated it, to make sure it was big enough and had a good enough root system to survive the division trauma. I'm glad it's working better. Windows Defender is a poor security program. It ranks very low when compared to other products when all undergo testing and performance assessments. Much better protection is available at no cost and maybe requiring only 10 minutes or less of your time to get and install. First choice - check the website of your internet service provider (or call customer service). Many furnish top quality security programs to customers for no charge. As an example, I get Norton (an excellent performer) from Comcast. Second choice - Look at the following link for ratings of free versions of security software. While I think these are maybe a step down from the paid versions of the same programs, all are better than Windows Defender. It may not be suffering at all but merely experiencing shock at being "mauled" by the Dobie. Tiny little prey animals like mice are easily traumatized.....that alone can sometimes kill them without any actual physical injury. I'd just keep an eye on it for a while and see if it calms down and its activity becomes more normal. If it does, then let it loose outside. If not and some sort of injury is obvious, then you can consider how best to dispose of it. My fiercely hunting tom cat used to bring me all manner of small rodent-like animals to admire. Sometimes they would be obviously traumatized by the experience, showing signs just like you describe but with no obvious injuries. They'd recover in a couple of hours. Other times they would be obviously injured - depends on how aggressively he 'played' with them - and then I would just toss them in a brushy area to meet their maker.......or becomes something larger's snack.

Is it possible I was sent School Mouse instead of Church Mouse. School Mouse has such a strong yellow edge like Mini-Skirt. When I received Church Mouse it was all green. I have only noticed now on my brief garden walks (on the concrete) that it is looking yellowish. Hmmmmm........Would love to see other people’s CM. debra
