Any of the choices would go fine with dark floors. What is the style of your home? What color are your fixtures/hardware?

Oil rubbed bronze

I also like the oil rubbed bronze because it has a tint of warm reddish tone. However, I also like the silver vein. I think I like these best because they're not so "flat" as, say, the plain black.

Has anyone seen antique bronze?

I wonder if these will date a house. I remember the painted wrought iron balusters from 1950's raised ranches. Wonder how you dust these?

These seemed to look better with lighter colors.

In my area at least, when we built our last house (2006), every house was cherry cabinets and railings with iron spindles.

They are pretty much in all the production built houses in our area now.

I am very traditional, so I wanted wood balusters even though we built 4.5 years ago and our builder was still putting the iron ones in custom homes. Now, I am seeing mostly wood in custom homes as people in our area are getting away from that Euro/Tuscan type look. The wood ones look appropriate in farm houses, colonials, and if they are simple like the pic above, even in more modern decor.

Though it wasn't the question that was asked, I do think the metal will date the home, whereas wood is the standard, traditional, expected choice.

Our house is totally custom. Now I'm second guessing the use of the iron balusters I posted above. The last thing I want to do is have a look that will be dated in a few years.

I think its less about the material and more about the style and color. The image shown above has a very clean and understated look.

I think MOST wood balusters look dated including the ones in my 2010 built home.

Go with what you like and keep in mind a clean and simple look will maintain its integrity.

I showed those to my wife and we both think that style looks really good.

I have to say, rmverb, the iron balusters look very 90's modern to me. I think they're already dated. But if you love it, that's what matters. Balusters aren't super hard to replace if you really can't stand them in 10 years.

To answer the OP's question, I think the silver vein looks most like hand forged wrought iron, so that's what I would choose. If your floors have a cool undertone the antique bronze would really stand out and look nice.

rmverb those may not be dated but look very artsy craftsy to me. Would not go in our house at all.
