Question for those of you using the new Miele Tablets
Comments (11)If your water hardness is 6 grains or higher, it is advisable to use the built-in salt water softener. Keep in mind that it is activated every time the unit fills with water (pre-wash, main wash, rinse, final rinse) so the water is at the proper softness. The only time the liquid rinse aid is dispensed is during the final rinse. As I said earlier, I have used the half-tab in the Normal and Pots/Pans cycle, but also have with the China/Crystal mode when washing Christmas dishes with gold edging. The half-tab works OK on all modes, including when using the Turbo option. The only mode that I don't use is the Express, since it does a 3 min pre-wash, 10 min main wash, and 5 min final rinse. That just really isn't enough main wash time to clean some baked-on foods. So that is why I have used the Normal and Pots/Pans modes. The half tab works just fine with both of those. Remember, if your unit has a "Tab" function on the front display, selecting it (turning it on) will disengaged the internal water softener and not dispense the liquid rinse aid at the final rinse. That's why I said it's best to have the Tab set to off, so you can use the built in water softener and the rinse aid at the end. From what Miele told me months ago, the small amount of salt and rinse aid in the new tabs are ONLY to help with the wash cycle, it is not to replace using the normal salt and rinse aid....See Morekindle fire vs nook tablet
Comments (12)Well, I now have a Nook Tablet AND a Kindle Fire. I'm planning to return one of them but I felt like I had to try them both. I've had the Nook for a few days but just got the Fire tonight. So far I think I like the Nook better. I like the feel of it - it's more comfortable to hold and not as slippery. It also has kind of a frame around the screen that makes it nicer to hold compared to the Fire which just has a little ridge around the edge - probably why the Fire is a bit smaller. I want to use it without a book-like cover on it - will just store it in a sleeve. I do think the web browser is better on the Fire since it has tabs and the keyboard and shortcuts are nice. However the Nook touch screen seemed more responsive - touching things on the Kindle sometimes didn't "register". The Nook has more options for the book display though and I think some of them are easier on the eyes than the Fire - at least I prefer some of the options that aren't available on the Fire. I imagine a lot of this stuff can change though with a software update. What wouldn't change is the home button on the Nook which I also like - maybe I've just gotten used to it. I'm going to try them out over the weekend and then decide. I do think Amazon is way ahead on content but I'm mainly interested in books and there are lots of books available through B&N and other sources. Kindle has many more apps but I don't care much about that because I do all that stuff on my iPhone. One thing I loved with the Nook was that my favorite magazine (Cooking Light) is available in a beautiful version tailored to the Nook. There is a Cooking Light app that's available for the Kindle to paper magazine subscribers but I really don't want the paper magazine. That could just push me over the edge. Plus I kind of want to give the underdog a chance....See MoreTablet question.....

Comments (48)You have several options: Get an ipad with built in LTE Have a phone with LTE capabilities already and use this as hotspot I personally have an iPad with built in LTE/4G. It works wonderfully. In reality, you can make your smartphone a hotspot and share the mobile signal when you are in an area where wifi is not available. Although the iPad with LTE is about $100 more expensive than the same iPad without, the cell providers like AT&T make it just as expensive to use your smart phone as a hotspot as to activate the LTE service on your ipad. If you want two units that allow you to browse the internet anywhere, get an iPad with LTE. You should be able to add service to the unit from the cell phone carrier that you only pay for when you use it. Mine is part of the mobile share plan for my cell phone so apart from the activation fee, it does not cost me more to use. The iPad with LTE does have an addition functionality which is the upgraded GPS capability so that you can use it as a GPS more accurately. Regarding Android versus Apple, Android is more susceptible to virus because of its open source nature and the fact its Android app store is more prevalent. There are more android users than apple users. Having said that, I think you should go to a best buy or somewhere like that where you can look at both machines and determine which ones work for you. Usability is a huge factor for me. Let money be a secondary consideration. I agree with Rococogurl about the future compatibility of the tablet you pick. Androids don't update much of the Operating System where Apple products are compatible, based on previous history, for about 4 major releases of the OS. This translates to about 3years of support on the existing hardware. I work in IT and implement technologies that use both Android and Apple ecosystems. Good luck!...See MoreUser
