Block Buster is done!
Comments (18)Thanks, everyone. Marsha, I made the full size quilt, and I used the same fabric for the "setting triangles, corner triangles and block sashing" (2 1/8 yards) and the "outer border," (1 1/4 yards), so the total yardage needed was 3 3/8 yards. For a lap quilt you would need 1 5/8 yards and 1 1/8 yards, respectively, for a total of 2 3/4 yards. The full quilt calls for 64 WOF 2 1/2" strips or 16 fat quarters; the lap quilt, 36 strips or 9 fat quarters....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? August 7-9
Comments (25)Sue, sorry to hear you hurt your knee. Though your story does make me feel better since I got a concussion on vacation riding a roller coaster...People have said to me since, "do you not think you are too old to be planning vacations around roller coasters?" and I am like "no, it would not have hurt me if I had not been so short." Age has nothing to do with it and I am glad that you are still going out rafting and having fun. I go rafting on the Ocoee River at least once every summer. If I were in your shoes right now, I would just be thankful it was not worse. The rapids and the rocks can be dangerous. Hopefully some physical therapy can fix your knee. Next time though, maybe you should just hang on while everyone else paddles LOL Remind me to tell you the story of my friend Karen rafting this summer. :)...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (13)I've been working hard on my DGD argyle quilt. I have 4 of the 7 rows completed. But I just needed a break, so I've been cutting squares. I loved the Scrappy Mountain Majesties quilt so much that I decided to make myself one too. I have most of the fabrics I used in my first one, so this one will look very much the same. I've got all the squares cut and packaged. Then I thought, what if I cut the blocks 6.5" inches instead of 8.5" and used bright prints and one solid color to make a child's quilt. So now I'm cutting smaller squares too. I may use one of the other layouts for the smaller quilt. These quilt "kits" will go with me to Hawaii this winter. They are the perfect project to work on in a limited space....See MoreWould SW Cachet Cream Work With This Quilt
Comments (20)Well, I got all the sample cards home (took extras!) and have concluded that all of the colors (Sweet Orange, Spun Sugar, Sweet Apricot, etc.) are all TOO light and way too orange/pink. I don't think I could live with that day-in and day-out. So, am back to the boring tans. I am just on my way out the door now to Benjamin Moore to check out BM Stonehouse, Springfield Tan, Palm Desert Tan and Thousand Islands (which apparently have just mild peachy undertones to them). I did drag the quilt down to SW and there was nobody there at all to help me!! Do any of you have an opinion on any tan that would work with this quilt that would still be warm and cheerful. I have seen so many (as someone has already posted on here) blah, dull beiges and khakis. I just want the room to be warm for guests and work with our Pacific NW gloom! Oh my, this is turning out to be much more difficult than I had anticipated. Ready to throw the quilt out the window (even though emotionally it means so much to me)!!!...See Moregeezerfolks_SharonG_FL
