Comments (2)The only outdoor project for textiles I've heard of is the overalls or pants that folks made into planters. I believe that they used multiple coats of polyurethane. You could do a search and see what come up. My concern would be that once moisture intruded that the stuffing would mold. Do you think it would work to make a hole in the bottom of your animal then pull out the polyfill. you could then stuff them temporarily with plastic or something like that then polyurethane the fur. After you've finished coating them remove the temporary filling. No worries about waterlogged stuffing that way. Paint it how ever you like after that. Let us know how it works out and post pics! ~~Mimi...See MoreStuffed animals?
Comments (6)I would just drop them off at your local charity thrift store. Ours always has tons. Our local quilt guild does an "animal and a quilt" type fundraiser thing. Since most all stuffed animals can be easily thrown in the washer, people pick up animals and then make small quilts to go with them. After people "bid" on their favorites, they are donated to the local police/fire/ambulance/social services to give to the kids they work with. The groups willingly take them since they know everything is clean. Gloria...See MoreSolution for Stuffed Animals
Comments (2)The bungee-cord cage is really a smart idea! I've seen it used for basketballs, etc., as well. When my kid was a little older than the one in those pictures, I wanted to use clothespins mounted on a pole, or those clips that potato chips are on in the convenience store to hold the beanie babies by their ears....See MoreIdeas for storing (too many) stuffed animals in bedroom
Comments (3)She's six; any chance you can reduce the collection a little bit by having her choose some to give to kids who don't have any toys? With the holiday season approaching, that might be a tactic to try. Otherwise, you will either need to add more storage or reduce the collection. Maybe add another hanging hammock--they are easy to put up and to take down and not as permanent as floating shelves. Or maybe box some of the extras up for a month or two, to see if she misses them. Or maybe give her a huge incentive to reduce the collection. Is there some toy/game that she really wants, but there isn't room for, because she has so many stuffed animals? Is she mature enough to understand that if she clears a certain amount of space, say the space taken up by 20 stuffed animals, there will be room for the thing she really wants?...See MoreMtnRdRedux
