Desktop Grow Light, Good or Not
Comments (21)JBonsai, I'm not sure if you've been listening to anyone, for instance bill_ftmyers_fl Said: If you are going to attempt to grow this indoor, I would guess it will work for a year or two, then the strees will knock it dead. and lucy Said: They may not succumb immediately, but won't go anywhere positive either. Which means yout three weeks of non death has no bearing on the arguments made for keeping your plant outside in full sun. You do not realise it, but 9 watts of flurescent is not much at all, I used to have 48 watts of compact flourescent on my fish tank, it did alright and I thought it was pretty good, untill I upgraded to 150 watts, and realised that the 48 Watt system was very dim, and if I compair the 150 Watts to say sunlight streaming in though an east facing window in the morning I can see that I'm still not at sunlight intensity, your little light it about 1/16th of what I had on my fishtank, which was atmost 1/2 of the intensity of early morning sun, and to be honest, the telescoping arm really does not do that much to help you, it cuts down on the amount of light flying past the plant, but the air between the light and the plant doesn't stop that much light 18 watts at 20" is a whole lot better than 9 Watts at 6" Now on to Lucy! That system is sweet, I want one, but I'm too poor/cheap/homeless college studentish to get one, however, I don't think its really that light intensive a system, it looks like there are only two tubes, and the fact that they didn't mention a wattage or t-# tells me that the tubes are probably not that special. For instance the Majestic looks to have a peaked top, maybe it has four tubes because it is rather wide, in say a good reef aquarium there would be atleast 20 t-5 tubes in that 26" width and as many as 26 if they were really pushing it and connecting all the reflectors in craft ways, thats the difference between 160 Watts and 1080-1404 Watts, Plus reflectors work better on the t-5s and they produce less heat too,of course this much light would blind you for a few hours if you were to look directly at it from say 4 feet away, but it would be wickedly awesome!...See MoreSkylights - style options and lighting option
Comments (3)I have skylights in my great room and one bathroom. Both those rooms have vaulted ceilings so the shaft is "way up" there. In the 13 years we have lived in this house we have never had cobwebs in any of the 3 shafts. I don't think it would look good to put a piece of glass across the opening and it could possibly cause some issues like condensation buildup inside the shaft. I love the look of the of the inspiration picture you posted. If you space is more contemporary I'd say go for it!...See MoreConnecting garden hose from indoors: best option and how to?
Comments (1)From the angle stop under your kitchen sink; close valve, remove the sink hose, insert a T, connect the sink hose to the T. The T you want to purchase has a hose bib on the long leg. Attach your garden hose to the hose bib on the T, open valve. your angle stop may not be pointed in the correct direction to accept a screw on T. edit: based on angle stop/screw on faucet hose....See MoreLight Temperature for Indoor Grow Lights
Comments (12)Hi Susanne, The one I use is called bestva. It's a 1000w grow light full spectrum avalaible via amazon. In the light specification, it's say that the average power consumption is supposed to be 185w. I hope that is true if not my husband will really put a stop to all my future ambition. At first I thought that led grow light will not generate any heat. It s not the case with my light because I register a temperature of 80F during the day and 68F during the night. My set up is in my basement, so the majority of the heat is not coming from any other source. My plants are indoors for a few weeks now and they are growing well . Here are some pictures. Some growth on my SugarBelle: New growth on my Okitsu: My variegated pink lemon with lots and lots of new growth My limequat with flower buds a picture of my light still on. It s really red (feel light we are in red lite district or something) Oh, and my light stays open from 6am till 9pm...See MoreSans2014
