Well it has finally bloomed. Below are the first two blooms on ATTAM. I am impressed that it opens flat and had no hang ups considering the edge on it. Once it gets acclimated, I hope it blooms when I have other plants blooming that I have identified as potential hybridizing partners.

Here is a side view. Not the best picture. One thing that I noticed is that the heavy ruffling is not present on the tips of the petals and this may be the key to having big ruffley ones open up with the hang ups.

RUBY STORM - has been a blooming machine with rebloom and holds up in full sun. Great plant.

All I can say is "YUM" to all of them . I really like ATTAM.......and I have loved Peggy Jeffcoat for forever I think ......great shots of them.

My All Things To All Men did not bloom this year and is still just one fan, The few blooms last year on a new single fan were splotchy. So far I'm not that impressed with it. However in its first year the pollen produced several seed pods even on the hottest days late in the season. I have a few seedlings growing now from it. I'm looking forward to seeing them bloom next year.

Your Sherry Lane Carr seedling has very rounded form. Emma McHugh is a nice edge/no-eye coloration. I see it's a Frank Smith cultivar and wonder if its scapes are registered height in the North. Would be nice to see some of these earlier in the day. But I know those cold mornings can be difficult. Won't have that problem here in the next few days, with lows in the mid-seventies. Ugh! It's a shame about All Things To All Men being splotchy and finicky about blooming. I really like the color. In my experience Splotchiness usually stays with the plant year after year. I'm thinking on a susceptible daylily it's the time of year it blooms that might account for some of it.. If Thrips are the culprit, then they come out in waves at different times during the year, and if yours consistently blooms during that same time you may have a problem every year. Of course Thrips don't read the train schedule so to speak, so some years you might just get lucky.......... I was glad to see Yada Yada Yellow. I've been tempted by it because it's such a late yellow. Davisson says it's her latest in her garden. If it was the rounded form I'd probably have gotten it by now, as it is I'll keep it on my list and see what others think about it ............Maryl

What a nice post, David! I want every one! I have eyed Honey on My Lips before, even though brighter colors are what get my attention these days. Passing Fancy looks really nice. Nice red on your 1st seedling, but I love the look of the 2nd one .

I like the potential for All Things To All Men if the splotchiness clears up. Gorgeous color combination and the fact that it doesn't hang up is a selling point. Not much good when one of those ruffly ones petals stay tied together. I also like the big maroon throat on Ruby Storm. It's a nice one.......Maryl

Great blooms! ATTAM is gorgeous, I hope the splotchiness goes away, would be great. My favorite today is Bittersweet August, such a nice shape.

Keep us posted on this one. I am less enamored of Emmerichs now that I have experienced some problems (such as short scapes, poor substance, and lack of vigor) with some of her stuff. I too am optimistic about Ruby Storm. Of course, it's a dormant. Stamile evergreens nowadays are very disappointing.
