Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081441)

Both of these updates were installed on my Laptop August 19th. The top one (KB3081444) is a Security Issue that was Identified in Microsoft Software Products (doesn't tell which product). The Second was just to Resolve Windows Issues (KB3081441).

Thanks so much, I was told that it would be installed automatically, and since I had MSMoney 2007, I knew it ran on IE, and you helped me fix the issue I had with it a few weeks ago.... I just wanted to be reassured that it would be patched.....And like you, I see where they were both installed.

A lot of the information can be deep, and for some may raise more questions than answer.. However, there are hyper links to potentially important information. If anything, it will assist in learning the proper wordage to assist in asking a member's question.

DA, I have a different view. I don't think anyone needs to refer to the webpage you linked. Or any other security-related page. As I know you know well, safe PC use comes from having thoughtful use practices and effective security software installed. From installing updates when they become available. For most users, no further concern or attention is needed.

People are terrified by exotic and mostly low level risks (to them) that they learn about and misunderstand. Too many posts in forums like this one, conversations between friends, news reports, are triggered by Chicken Little-type reactions to extreme events that are reported in a sensational rather than level-headed manner.

Too many people treat their PCs as if they were radioactive, treat their personal information as if a hacker had installed a camera into their eyeglasses to steal passwords, live in fear that some unknown monster is about to steal their life savings.

I believe "a little knowledge is dangerous". Especially misunderstood PC security issues in the hands of novice users and oldsters (the frequent population of readers here), nothing could be more true.

I agree that an informed and disciplined user is the key to security. I also subscribe to any anti-chicken little campaign. However, knowledge is the foundation of life, and I only recommended a familiarity with the page.

Let a member glean what they wish or nothing at all. Without the cite many would not know of of the page's existence to make that decision, and perhaps lose the chance to learn something on one's own. To do so is very self rewarding.
