BigOleDude, I did a quick Google search of NO relative humidity. Average is over 84% in the morning, but the average is in the mid-60% range in the afternoon, every month of the year. Relative humidity of the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor to the partial pressure of water when air at that given temperature is saturated (ie, the dew point)...Nathan, correct me if I'm wrong about this...so when the temps go up during the day, the dew point goes up and the relative humidity goes down. So you check this chart and see that at 90*F and at 65% relative humidity, you still get 7*F drop in temp with evaporative cooling methods. I use the same methods Cactusfreak uses...shade cloth, misters, exhaust fans...earlier this summer with humidity in the 60% range, I was 87*F inside my GH when the outside temp was 91*F. Hi, there. I'm a newbie at vermicomposting, but was at a composting demo over the weekend with a woman who has been composting for years and had a lovely vermicoposting bin with lots of happy worms. She had a couple of tips about fruit flies: 1. Put your veggie scraps in the freezer overnight and it will kill any fruit fly eggs that are on them. Then, transfer them to your bin. 2. Wash your fruits & veggies - even the organic stuff - to get the fruit fly eggs off! 3. Be sure to bury your fresh scraps in your bin. 4. Put damp, shredded newspaper in the top of your bin. She had a couple of inches in her bin, and this detracts the fruit flies. If you bury your scraps, and keep them underneath the newspaper, that should really limit your fruit fly problem. And finally, a non-bin related tip that has worked well for me for getting rid of fruit flies. :) I use a jar or a glass and put some apple cider vinegar in the bottom. Then, create a funnel out of a piece of scrap paper and tape it into the cup. The fruit flies LOVE the apple cider vinegar, and you can trap them pretty quickly using this method. Alyssa, Salvia is an excellent idea. Unfortunately we've got more than we know what to do with. However I don't think it is the same variation as you have. Usually it is very showy but it has struggled the last few years. I think something changed when cedar mulch was applied to the bed. We did not intend to mulch it because the plants always reseeded and did splendidly but there was a mix up with our gardeners and mulch was put in. I probably should have had it all pulled out but decided to see how it did. Since then they don't seem to be as good of bloomers, not as purple and not as showy. But it could just be they need fertilizer. We sort of ignore them other then to try and battle them back into the bed. You can see where they've been in the lawn and been cut out. This year there is something else mixed in. I don't know what it is. It looks about to flower so I guess I will find out. It is sort of salvia looking but the leaves are slightly different than whatever variation we have for most of the bed.

Well...to my uncreative eye, it certainly looks like this house had a garage or carport once upon a time, and somewhere in history, the garage/carport was turned into habitable spaces and made part of an enlarged house. Perhaps done by a creative designer. So the first thing to do is to check with the local zoning administrator to see what sort of parking requirements are applicable to this property. As it is now, it may be nonconforming with the zoning ordinances and not saleable without a conforming garage. While at the zoning administrator's office, find out what the setback requirements are for the property, and where the buildable envelope for the property is located, it's dimensions and size. If a new garage is desired or required it will be important to know how much space (and where) for the location of a new garage. Then talk to an architect. Or you could pay an architect to do all of this for you. But be sure you work with a "little more creative" architect...
