It doesn't look like my Undulata Albomarginatas. The edges have been cream/yellowish all season

i dont think W is that big a plant ... and it would be much bluer in spring ... since the reference is to jim wilkins beloved univ of MI ... maize and blue.. as far as you can go with that in hosta

of course its august.. and blues are tough to come by

To me that leaf and bud looks like Rudbeckia. What variety I couldn't say unless I saw the flower open. If it opens to a daisy like flower I'm right. If not then post again when it opens. Post anyway and maybe we can give you the variety

Thank you Rich. Sound good! As Froissart in his book compare them I will look closely tomorrow the S.forreri I got recently but ATM I can say that if both are blue and small they are quite distinct.

There’s always Austrocylindropuntia subulata monstrose, but I don’t think that has a bunch of fuzzies like yours. Fuzzies is totally a botanical term ;). My guess is an Opuntia cross between subulata x vestita. I see it in stores as Austrocylindropuntia ‘Rollercoaster’. What gives it that real snowy fuzzy look is the Austrocylindropuntia vestita. It can take a ton of light/sun all day if you can give it or the new growth will become lanky.

It looks suspiciously like my Wide Brim when I first bought it last year. The leaves are already noticeably wider this year so if yours is an older plant, this is an incorrect guess.

It just may be wide brim! This one is 2 years old.I have older and younger ones and this one is in between in regards to leaf size. Thanks for the pic.
