"Reserve" Windows 10

Got this message to the effect 'reserve windows 10' . Spouse said try it so I clicked the box and the activity indicator started going around and we went shopping or somewhere. Returned two hours later and the activity indicator was still circling so I stopped it. We've AT&T DSL for ISP. Should I get another invitation I will try to double check where it came from. But should it take 2-3 hours?

Win10 free upgrade, with the automatic download in total size I've seen on most - the install folder is 5.9gb. Hidden I think, C:\$Windows.~BT & maybe also $Windows.~WS .

Would take a while on normal dsl. Microsoft sometimes tries not to upset your normal online use and downloads larger things at slower than your max connection speed.

Thanks Zep. Yes, I have noticed that Win10 has begun downloading weeks ago. I don't mind that as it will be less tedious later to download all at once. I just won't install it yet. Yes, I also had a concern as to whether I "need" to reserve my copy of 10. I see when I go to Control Panel - check to Win updates, it gives me a big old blue box saying Win10 is coming soon...reserve today. I suppose it will stay like that until I reserve.

I know, Beverly, thanks. I'll have to work things out, but having to be out so early on Sunday means no sewing that morning... So arriving Thursday afternoon, means only 2 full days of sewing... I may have to figure out if I can at least get there Wed. night, rather than doing all my driving on Thursday... There's still time to work it out, I guess ;)

Thanks everyone. mikie, that sounds a little complex. If necessary, I'll try it, though. An update... last night after posting here, I decided to try to get those Windows updates redone and out of 'stall' mode. So, what happened was the latest version of Windows 10 updated - it was a long one, took about an hour. After that, my computer is working like I think it should as far as speed with no lags. I haven't used it enough to see if that "HD Intel Graphics Display driver has stopped working and has recovered" popup happens again. So far it hasn't. While doing the Windows 10 update, I could see it was installing new drivers for quite some time, so I'm hoping that will resolve the issue. If not, it looks like I'll have to return it because it's really annoying to continually see this popup whenever I try to navigate the internet. I'll post back to report what happens. Thanks to you all for your help.

Only a month away now and 3 months since my knee replacement. I'd hoped rehab would be further along but guess I just have a very active inflammatory system. Still struggling with swelling in knee and ankle making bending and walking gait not great, despite pt and exercises on own and even some elevation/icing on occasion. A 6-day treatment with methyl prednisolone last week worked well but don't know how long it'll last (lowest dosage usually prescribed). All this is to say that I don't feel confident enough that I'll be ready to travel to the retreat this year. Likely will be having second knee replaced in a few months. Hope that I'll be able to come next year. Looking forward to photos and reading about this year's fun.

After you reserve the copy of Windows 10, it downloads in the background. I waited a couple of days after reserving to check and it was ready to install.

The actual installation took a couple of hours, I think. I kicked it off and took a nap.

If the upgrade doesn't have lots of added programs to move and files to copy, most say it takes 15 to 20 minutes to upgrade. Last time here it was 17 minutes before I was on the desktop.

I don't really have many added programs & only keep about 50mb of personal files, mostly those bytes are photo's I don't really need to access often - I should move them to onedrive online only, someday.
