Are we being overly picky or is this a bad bevel Tile backsplash job?
Comments (10)I would post in the bathroom forum where the tile guys hang out. It looks like there's too much grout so it's covering the edges. The edges look uneven and chipped. Something is taking the clean edge from your tiles. Tiling should start at the cabinet, not the counter. By bringing it out to the counter, he's created that awkward overhang at the wall cabinet....See MoreCustom build house - bad tile job or am I crazy/too picky??
Comments (36)Having tile jobs done are gut wrenching. So happy that your builder is making the correct move to remove and replace. Seems like only ten percent of the tile contractors are legitimately good. My builder prepped the tile guy who I had by telling him that I would be doing the bucket test, sliding a 5 gallon bucket across the floor and it should not catch any lips. Also, every morning I had blue tape X marks on tiles that needed to be replaced because he did not use a random of enough color pattern. The fool just grabbed from the same box and went with whatever was in his hand. Could not believe it. Good luck on round 2!...See MoreAm I being picky - or is this a sloppy interior paint job?
Comments (6)I don’t think you are being picky at all. It looks sloppy to me as well and if you are not completely satisfied with the contractor painting basic walls I would not trust with cabinets and exterior. Suck up the lost and move on..... I recently moved into an almost 4000 sq ft home and I hired a painter for 1 room. He asked if that was all I needed painted I told him no but I want to see how he paints the 1 room. Learned from past paint jobs....I don’t care what the portfolio looks like they could be photoshop... some painters just paint they don’t patch or do 2 coats unless specified. I said all that to say I have taking losses too, had to have things done over but to me it is worth it for me to enjoy my castle...See MoreAm I being too picky about this paint color?
Comments (23)The wisdom of painting a house before you put it on the market is not really the point here, except that painting the whole house a "neutral" colour was what the former owners of this house undoubtedly thought they were doing. This current home owner bought the house in spite of the colour, not because of it and is now faced with the not inexpensive task of repainting. All that said, my main point is that it is impossible to pick the optimal complex neutral paint colour to go on these walls without knowing what your decor is going to be. Even if you are using all you old existing furniture, the light exposure your new home gets may render the colour used in your previous home differently. And no, you don't have to paint the whole house the same colour. You're not matching the floor, you're matching bedding in the bedrooms, upholstery, area carpets and drapery in the LR, and perhaps a shower curtain or the wall tiles in the bathroom....See MoreUser
