I forgot to mention, make sure you take the thickness of your granite into account when you measure your height for your legs- were your wall faucets installed for something that was overall 35" or that was 35" + 3cm/1.25" granite? If your granite is only 2cm/3/4" I am not sure it will span on its own without something supporting it but 3cm will. Sorry if you have this all sorted out again I just popped into this forum after not being here for a long time. The other thing to think about when using console legs is that the underside of your sink needs to be glazed. Most are not as they are intended to be installed in a cabinet. I ended up not being able to use the first sink I purchased when it arrived and I realized it had an unglazed bottom. And WOW I cannot believe how much the price of newport brass has gone up since we did our bathroom - I paid around $550 for ours in chrome (I wanted a 30" wide console which they had standard, which is why I did not order from the place I had linked) - the same one is nearly $900 now! But DEA's prices seem the same (at the time I was on the fence between chrome and nickel, DEA's prices even with modifications were less in Nickel than NB, but when I went for chrome NP was cheaper and the right size so I just went with that). I'm not sure what you mean by NB doesn't have the vintage look though - here is our NB/brasstech 30" console (though they do make it in 36" too but it is now MUCH more expensive - more than double the other I linked). This is it without the plumbing hooked up (sorry I can't find an after, I am not sure I took any!) I'm not sure what the height is but it's taller than our other vanity, that's for sure.

Hi, You didn't mention how bad the rust is, but we used to clean the chrome on those tables with regular old SOS pads. When the soap starts going away, use a new pad and keep it wet while you're working. This should clean up any area where there are pits. You can also use chrome polish. It will clean up pitted areas too, but is a little more work. Naval Jelly removes rust, but if there are patches of rust, the chrome will be gone in those areas. In a pinch, you can sand and paint the legs with chrome spray paint, or paint them a different finish or color with auto spray paint. That may be easier than trying to match the chrome finish. That paint color could be coordinated with the new top. If the chrome legs clean up nicely, protect them with car wax. If you like the shape of the table, but not the chrome, just paint the whole thing. Depending on the condition, it may be better to make it look completely different than to 'restore' it. Formica is probably still widely available. Check the big stores, then the flooring stores. I'm guessing that there's a plywood 'base' under the formica. The formica gets glued to that plywood with contact cement. Router around the outside to give it a smooth edge and make it the same size as the plywood. There may be other flooring that would look good. Another option for the top could be that new 'garage floor finish'. It sort of has the look of the time when those tables were built and comes in a few colors. Don't know if it would work. Thick clear resin could also be used. You could put fun stuff or pictures in the table under the resin. Still another idea, cover the tabletop with vinyl. It's cleanable and can be changed easily. You could check with auto body shops. Chrome is expensive, but could be an option. Hope that's not more than you ever wanted to know. Linda

I have to tell you of an amazing coincidence that happened, as I searched the web for that ad before you posted it. I used your description to try to find the table to see if there were more pics. Lo and behold, I ended up in the Atlanta, GA CL, where there was nothing like that table at all, but I saw this ad https://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/fuo/5795725866.html    where the chairs looked familiar. I went into my DR where I looked again at the chairs that I have stashed in there from a CL buying trip to NH on March of 2015, where I picked up a farm table; an item I'd been casually looking for for years. This is the bad CL ad pic. A friend of mine wanted the pink upholstered chairs, and since we were loading the table, too, when she offered me the 2 rush seat chairs with arms, I didn't need them or think we could fit it all in/on the 4Runner. She either gave them to me or charged me $20 for them, as they needed to empty the house. Thanks to that random CL search for you, I now know that my big, heavy, well-made rush seat chairs are made by Hooker! There is part of a label underneath one, but it's torn off so no name is visible. The family had had the table that I bought for over 25 years and had brought it with them from TX to NH. I'll just assume that the chairs (second pic below that I just took of one) are similar vintage.

@Eva N, what gorgeous yellow tile! So great you've decided to keep it. If you're still debating countertops, I'd personally go for white rather than soapstone in that space. It will keep with the brightness of the tile. Another option, which you may have seen on retrorenovations (I think people recommended that site on your original thread), would be to use white 4x4 square tile on the countertop, with black v-cap or box-cap edging. Tile countertops are making a comeback, they're cheaper than stone, and super durable, and would be true to the period of your kitchen. You can get inexpensive white field tile from Lowes/HD and then get the more specialized edging tiles from someplace else. For my 1920s kitchen, I found reasonably priced v- and box-cap trim tiles from B&W and Daltile (their Color Wheel and Semi-Glass & Matte collections are great for retro kitchens). Modern grouts are much more stain resistant and easier to keep clean than before, so I'm much less worried about the grout lines getting grimy. As for cabinets, repainting in all the same color would go a long way to covering up any mismatches in the style of the doors. Another option would be to decide which style you like better and replace the other doors/drawer faces with matching ones. (Personally, I love the white flat-front ones in your butler's pantry! They're what I'm putting in my retro 1920s kitchen.)
