That's so funny I didn't even notice! Cucumber sounds interesting - might have to try that.

Today for lunch I had blueberry juice diluted with water, but I did add a bit of sweetener to it. I also like to make my own ginger syrup, which has a lot of uses, and pomegranate is another favorite flavor. I have lemons and limes in my yard - both at the same time right now, but not always - and so I often use lemon or lime zest in water. I had a passion vine when I lived in Venice, and so I often used passion fruit juice to flavor water, but it needs quite a bit of sweetener, and so I normally made a passion fruit syrup when I had a lot of passion fruit. I could make that syrup into sorbet as well. If you have enough water, I recommend growing a passion vine, but you have to watch out for possums, as they also like the fruit. Fortunately, the vine will make way more fruit than possums can eat.

If you have an orange tree, you can use orange zest in your water, and any citrus you may have should work well, although tangerine is not one of my favorites except for juice and fruit. Grapefruit is probably my favorite citrus flavor, but I am not growing that either.

I have cucumbers from the garden out the wazoo this year, so there has been a lot of Sassy Water again (see recipe in the link foodonastump posted above).

The newest flavored drink added to the arsenal has been water kefir made with real water kefir grains available from Culture's For Health - http://www.culturesforhealth.com/. They are different from milk kefir grains and you ferment the water kefir culture in sugar/water, but much of the sugar is consumed in the fermentation. We use water kefir as a replacement for pop/soda. It's a lightly effervescent drink (after the second fermentation), with a lot of health benefits (http://knoxvillepermacultureguild.ning.com/profiles/blogs/health-benefits-of-water-kefir).

I flavor it with just about anything. Per quart I'll use 1/4 c. of any flavor of juice I happen to have on hand. I can add root beer extract (for the second fermentation: mix 1 t. root beer extract with 1 T. sugar dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water to 1 quart water kefir). Lemon slices and/or lime slices, fresh and dried fruit, as well as grated ginger are popular. Add vanilla for a cream soda. Endless combinations.

If I want a LOT of effervescence, I'll charge the finished water kefir with a Mastrad PureFizz Soda Maker. Which is another way to make a plethora of flavored waters, juices, and adult beverages via carbonation.

A Thai restaurant near me puts cucumber slices in their water pitchers, unbeknownst to me. I drank some expecting plain water, and really did not like it. To me it tasted as if the glass had a residue of dish detergent or glass cleaner or bug spray or something unpleasant in it.

Asparagus Water?

Three or four stalks of asparagus? Must be some really special water to command a $6 price tag!

At a spa here they serve ice cold "spa" water which was thin slices of cucumber and lemon floating among ice cubes. Delicious and refreshing. I've made it a few times and serve it at parties for a change from alcoholic drinks.
