Still some bloom on August 18
Comments (8)Thanks everyone for the nice comments on the seedlings. I'm trying to get some late ones so I've been pleased to see them still blooming. All but the last one still have at least one more bud. Rita, I know you like the yellow/gold ones. Nancy, my Indy Rhapsody is about done too. This might have been the last bloom--either last or next to last. I'm very pleased with seedling number 4. It's a first year seedling and keeps looking better every time it blooms. Seedling #3 is a second year and I'm amazed that it had two scapes on one fan and a decent bud count. None of its siblings were nearly as good. maryl and Rita, seedling 1 is a second year seedling and I really didn't remember it from last year, but this year it has very good branching and bud count. Hope it continues. avedon, Elegant Finale is one of my favorite lates. It's well named. It does look elegant and has good branching and bud count. Kay, I love red too and Indy Rhapsody is a beautiful shade of red. It's way taller than its registered height though so I need to move it out of the front row! Val...See MoreFinally! Some more blooms!
Comments (15)Jean, so far the deer don't touch the peonies. But... I was just out perusing the yard a couple hours ago, still broad daylight.... I went into the backyard to turn on one of the sprinklers... DAGNABBIT!! Those frickin' deer (two does) were chowing on my DA's!! I screamed at them and they flew over the side fence and away! Had to spend the last hour or more spraying my deer repellent. My hands and arms are killing me! I had to spray 3 gallons this time because the roses are so big this yr! Yeah Leslie, I think that color change on GYPSY LANTERN must be the temps. We'll see with the next blooms! Rainbow, I'm just glad the Japanese maples are so expensive, or I'd have tons more of them!! LOL Redsox, the tree peonies are a good 5yrs old now and they seem to have peaked out at anywhere from 3-4½ft tall. I just love them! These are all in part shade and they sure do lean towards the sunniest area! I wonder if they'd be even bigger in full sun?? Aprille, I got my tree peonies at the store where I work. I ordered the bulbs from Van Borgondien. VB has a retail website under its affiliate, Van Dycks. They have all the ones we had ordered yrs ago. I just discovered a tag on this magenta peony, and it's name is "SHIMADAIJIN." Here is a link that might be useful: Van Dycks...See MoreAnother day, some more blooms
Comments (12)Thanks, sherry. I can't tell you the name on DEbra's til it is official since she lost one chosen name. Fried Green Tomatoes had even more blooms on the other side and is loaded with buds. And both Exotic Starfish and Daytime Drama just make me smile when I see them. Kate I even had a first bloom that I didn't post because it was a pink one and I already had pink, but there were so many clumps again, yo just have to choose. Your yellow had three blooms on it today and is doing great. Thanks Nancy. You have to see the really bright ones, don't you and that Drama one would have so well fitted its intended name of Drama Queen, but someone else got it first. Thank you all for looking and commenting. kay...See MoreSome more blooms
