Comments (30)HI Folks, Wow a lot of postings.. I am a all around gardener, but tend toward edibles, herbs and such. I do grow a ton of other things. I have a huge woodland garden, small forest garden, tiny water garden, several butterfly gardens, wildflower gardens, organic veggie gardens, herb gardens, heck I just plain like to garden and if it can grow here I have it or want it. LOL I have a good garden friend who is a lady and belongs to the wallingford garden club. She is not "old" but.. LOL I have been invited to take part in several garden club projects but.. I really an not a joiner. I am a do-er.. I hade several garden buddies when I lived on the otherside of town they like me have all moved away. I still live in Wally world . Thanks for all the posts and I hope one day someone from around here will host a garden get-together. Local is my focal (c: Smitty cityhomesteader@yahoo.com...See MoreCT Garden shopping -advice wanted
Comments (8)Thanks for the reminder about TJ Max. I went to Marshalls last night as I know they sometimes have garden items. Did not score. Also drove down to Guilford earlier to look at Wilbur and King but they have very little in the way of pots. The back (outside) looked interesting as far as plants go, fairly extensive. Sigh. I will check out Tj's at first available opportunity. Bill, thanks for the warning about the poor little Nepenthes. Don't worry, I'm a big knowledge freak and I have already been researching the little guy's requirements. Nice of you to care though and I love dialog. Just hope the cooler house temps that are bound to exist this Winter won't inhibit success. I can see DH and myself engaging in the battle of the thermostat now, all driven by the cost of fuel oil. Oh yes, I also stopped at Pier 1 last night and they only had a few things. Used to be Salem Country Gardens had some fair pot choices but they were sold to some large chain like agway so there goes the individuality. Perhaps I should take a hint from all this and quit the old corporate world in favor of a huge garden design place! Linda...See MoreToday's CTS Haul!!
Comments (28)Good for you kathleen on getting your dishes. I'm so happy that you have enough now, to have a nice luncheon for your friends ..lol. Too bad on the hooks, maybe they are a little late in getting things out fast enough. Sounds like they're backlogged on their stock. I guess I was lucky w/the dishes that I got. I laughed, I can see you helping them w/the trees...lol At our store, there are Giant Signs, on the entry door..HELP WANTED. You would think that w/the economy the way it is, those jobs would be taken. Well, I'm excited to see what you got..I won't be on until tomorrow evening, as my DD is coming around noon, but will be leaving around 5pm. I made the 'cupcake'..it's cooling now. I will ice it in the morning. I couldn't get Whippit..So I got Dreamwhip instead. I think it's prob the same thing. (hope so). I'll take some pics after it's decorated. Wish me luck..lol jane...See MoreAny Forum Members in CT???
Comments (23)That's actually what I liked about it (small town). When we were building, I was really impressed by an experience I had in town at that little Tru-Value store by McD's. I'd gone in to get some painting supplies, talking to the clerk, he knew right off where we were building. I'd gotten everything together and he'd wrung me up, and there was another customer who needed help down in the back of the store. In the middle of writing out the check, I told him to go ahead, that I'd wait. His response was that's okay-- here's the receipt. Just leave the check on the counter! Living around the New Haven area all my life (first in West Haven till I was 10, and then in Orange), that was the first time in my life I'd encountered that kind of trust from ANY business. If you think Terryville's small, you ought to see where I am now, in Maine! Bridgton has a year round residency of about 3500 people, although in the summer, that swells to about 8000. :-)...See Moredeegw
