automatic password completion

I recently did something to my HP PC so it would not remember passwords. Now I want to change it back and I can't find where or how I did it! Help please!

Assuming you're referring to remembering passwords in Firefox...

Options > Security (Make sure "Remember passwords for sites" is checked)

Hi Lea. I see you're using IE. I'm afraid I'm not an IE user.

Googling and restricting results to microsoft.com https://www.google.com/search?q=Remember passwords for websites site:microsoft.com

Assuming you're running IE 10... this might be the first thing I'd try:

a. Open Internet Explorer, click on
Tools, click on Internet Options.

b. Click the Content tab.

c. Under AutoComplete and then click
Settings.

d. Put a check mark on the Address bar, Forms, User names and passwords on forms, and
Ask me before saving passwords check boxes.

e. Click OK, and then click
OK again.

Like I say though, I'm not an IE user. Perhaps someone else would be better able to help you, unless that works I mean. :)

I'm sorry, I am new to wireless computing. I have had my netbook and router less than a year. I do not know the proper terms. I set up the router and network security stuff and set the laptop to connect automatically and haven't given it another thought. I have never taken my netbook "on the road" so when we drove out of town to my parents house, I brought it. When I tried to connect to my mother's network it asked for a password, it may have said Key, she told me two that she uses and they didn't work. HER laptop is set to connect automatically too and she has no idea what the password is to let me on to her network. If it is going to be a big ordeal to figure out her password, I won't bother but when I get home I'm going to have to figure out my own. I am more likely to have someone come over with their laptop than my mother. I did read your advice to tape it to the router but I think I already forgot it by then. OOPS

The router is a D-Link WBR-2310 Rangebooster G. The router was originally setup with a password. We started with the admin; admin, but then it was changed so it would be truly secure. And no, I didn't tape it to the bottom of the router. But I did retain the pages and pages of notes I created while originally setting up the router. (Had lots of problems; long story.) But so far I haven't found any notation of the password. (groan) bpgreen suggested "...you can probably reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure it." My question: Wouldn't I need the password to do that? If not, do I go to the D-Link site and start from scratch? Or do I use the original setup disk? (I did find that.)

Is it water, or is it detergent (mine is yellow colored (All))? I have a little water left in the detergent dispenser. There is also a little of the blue softener left in the fabric softener dispenser....but not enough to be alarmed about. My bleach dispenser has a little water in it also when the load is finished. I know it is water because doesn't smell like bleach. My front loaders are Whirlpool. I would ask Samsung or Lowes before the warrany is over.

Windows 10 wants a password to open

I have a windows 10 laptop on which I never set up a Windows account, and it has never asked for a password. So the Windows account is the culprit. This laptop has a touch screen, so Windows 10 is a perfect system for it. Yes, I do still use a mouse much of the time, too. Somehow or other, I finally got my desktop back to a local account, and now it is opening with my picture and name and no mention of a password. So I'm happy now.

This may not help right now, but I'd recommend using a password manager like LastPass, which will remember your passwords better and more securely than any browser. Best part is that since the passwords are kept in the cloud, you'll still have access to your passwords when you're away from your personal computer. Say, when you're using a friends computer or a computer at the library.
