Comments (24)Didn't have a picture of Oklahoma when I recommended it above, but I just took one this morning. How can anyone resist this dark, dark red beauty? Oklahoma HT Very floriferous and (so far) disease resistant. Nice overall appearance of the whole plant. It has been in my garden only since late April, but it was obviously a mature container plant when I bought it at my local garden center. Kate...See MoreFragrant Austins with longest vase life
Comments (16)Austin's floral roses are completely different from the ones that are in commerce. In his website, David Austin states: "Darcey Bussell, will only last a few days in a vase (unlike its namesake, cut rose variety Darcey, which has been bred specifically for the vase)." And Juliet is not the same as 'Sweet Juliet'. There was a past thread on this topic, I'm not sure if you have read it. I have included the link for your interest. A Shrosphire Lad - more of a landscape rose - huge but the blooms don't last long. Jude the Obscure - a lovely rose with a STRONG fragrance. I would grow this one for its fragrance and cute ball-shaped blooms. Can't remember how long the blooms last for. Falstaff last a very long time for me - about 4-5 days. Beautiful blooms. But it mildew BADLY in Ausralia which is why I had to get rid of it. Roses such as Claire Rose and Swan last a week as some people had mentioned in that link. But those roses don't have any scent. If a rose apeals to you - buy it. I'm very happy with 'Evelyn'. This rose is an absolute beauty. The way the petals are formed, the complexity - really amazes me. Plus it has a nice scent too. I'm pretty sure Sharifa Asma last much longer than Heritage and has a much stronger scent. Comments (23)Purple and yellow/chartreuse go great together, and you already have a good green pallet. I like the geranium and the purple flowering edger together for color AND texture A striking and bold hosta would really stand out in the center. Last year I'd added a Blaze of Glory and its color would be perfect in the spring, though it became more chartreuse-green later in the year. I am sure the abount of direct sun would influence that. I'm not sure about the grown size of this hosta but mine seems to have an upright habit. Can anyone contribute a pic & info of Blaze of Glory? Every one has a different perception of beauty, so all I can do is offer an opinion and see if you like it! Some times when I am having a problem deciding such as color blends I make cut-outs and make layouts with them. The cheap art colored-marker sets can be used to create a wide variety of color blots on paper which can be cut into circles and played with. Les...See MoreNEED: Big, Vase shaped and upright
Comments (11)I can suggest you put the Paradise Power in the bed. It has the sort of darker green margin that would mix well with any other gold leaning hosta. Maybe even the creamy margin of Sagae. I have a Paradise Sunshine beneath (meaning lower) than the raised pot of Sagae and it works great with softer colors too. I know, you did not mention it, but I bet you have it somewhere in the garden. Otherwise I'd say add the Gold Regal with the Paradise Power. Put some more gold in there. I have a Limelight and it is getting tall like you say yours is. The green flowers are forming now....See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
