I have a regular sized shower, 3'x5' with porcelain tiles. I squeegee the walls in addition to wiping the chrome and doors. I leave one of the doors open after the shower. I leave the fan on for 30min following my shower. It's on a timer. My shower pan is a Kohler cast iron. I have not had to clean anything in the last 18 months, except for the pan a few times. I am the only one taking a shower in it though, but it gets daily use. It only takes a few minutes to do all the squeegeeing. If I had a much bigger shower I don't think i'd like to squeegee large areas of wall.

You are the one with the same wall tile as me, right?

ETA: you could take a large microfiber bar towel and just do a quick floor wipe. Then hang the towel over the door or grab bar. I have a Williams and Sonoma bar towel and it has been great. I use it to wipe all my corners and niche so that the caulking is dry. I know, crazy. But I don't want any mold. I live with a terrible shower for so many years, this one is staying pristine ;)

Thanks to both of you for your responses. Yes, enduring, I also have the Marvel tile. I love it!! I just wish I did not have the real marble floor. It complicates everything. It was done before I knew the issues with marble.

I am willing to wipe everything down. My hubby on the other hand, not so sure. Our shower is 5.5 x 5.5'. The walls look good but I am beginning to see build up on the marble floor and maybe even a touch of that orange mold? I began leaving the door open this week. I do not have a steam cleaner and I am close to trying some cleaners on the floor, but I don't even know what to use.

Well I think if the shower gets wiped down once daily that might be good enough. Keeping the door open and the fan going for 20 to 30 minutes after you're done with the shower will help dry things out. I think if you get one of the large microfiber towels, because they dry
so fast, and wipe down your floor and caulking at the floor you will be
good. At least its a try. Also wiping down the walls that get wet.

Do you have an exhaust fan in the ceiling of your shower? I put one in my shower and it is connected in the attic to the other one in the other part of the bathroom. My bathroom doors have about 3/4" gap underneath for make up air to enter the bathroom, for the fan as it runs. My fan motor is in the attic and the ducting is insulated up there. I never get steam in the room, just in the shower. The mirror never fogs. I don't have a bit of mold in my shower. I quickly squeegee all walls to about 6' high, and dry all caulked corners, niche, and chrome.

Yes, I do have an exhaust fan and have been running it for the 30 minutes when finished. I know it is working because I also don't get the foggy mirror. That's a great suggestion to get the large microfiber towel. We have a small one right now and it does a good job for the chrome and door. I guess a little bit of work for all that gorgeousness is worth it. lol The only thing I need now is to find out how to clean the marble shower pan. I have a bit of build up already and need to clean it.

Make sure to use only liquid body wash. Do not use bar soap which is known to build up on shower walls and floors.

Yes agree liquid soap only. Don't use white washcloths though as the liquid soaps turn them dingy. I use dark gray ones.

Totally agree on venting and on liquid soap. Costco or Kirkland brand is what we used. It was a huge improvement on the floor. Most bar soaps have oils or waxes that build up. Only bar soap that worked was hard-milled, which is hard to find and expensive. If and only if you find soap buildup over time, consider a softscrub cleaner. But marble is tricky due to how highly porous it is---test always before using or you could have permanent staining and other damage. Good luck!

A lot depends on your water but I have glass walls and marble floors. I sealed my marble heavily before it was even laid and after to get the grout done and then every 6 months or so. That said I use bleach wherever it is needed for mold and kaboom on everything else. It's great for soap scum. We try to squeegee but we're busy and it gets away from us. Kaboom makes it all look like new again. Not to mention the bleach. Oh and jubilee is available again for the chrome! My cousin got a case and handed it out. Love it!

So bleach doesn't hurt your marble or the Kaboom? I would have never thought of using those items.

Humm, I think I will have to give the Jubilee a try for the fiberglass stall walls that my DH uses down in the dungeon. That thing is so old it could use a shine, and it would be easier to clean. Using liquid soap has helped a lot too.

Would Bon Ami or Bar Keeper's Friend be safe for marble?

No! Absolutely not. BKF is acid which dissolves marble and BA's feldspar and limestone will scratch marble if you scrub hard enough.

A pH neutral stone cleaner is the only thing safe for stone. I like ZEP.

I don't let it sit forever I do my shower over the course of a few days. I spray it let it sit for 5 or so min while I get ready to go in, then I go in and use a scrub brush nothing too rough but not soft either, and go over the glass... then rinse.. next day might throw bleach in there to do the moldy spots, same deal... takes me about 3 - 4 days but this way it is not a huge chore, I break it up in stages, and cause its new it cleans up quick. I hate to clean so I get in get out....my stone was sealed by a good quality penetrating sealer many times, then every 6-9 months. So I have no issues with any of the areas being damaged. If you are afraid of yours being effective get a piece of scrap from the installation and play with it. But make sure your treating it the same iow if your shower is sealed, then seal the sample piece. My shower actually has two different kinds of marble and one is Naxos and it is super soft... but This is around windows and Niches. Anyway this is how I do it. Yes they brought Jubilee back! It is the same, just smelling it brought back memories of cleaning the toaster.... lol

I'd like to reiterate my inital post at the top of the page. I never have mold or mildew in my shower. I have caulk at all change of planes. I have epoxy grout. I have a cast iron pan. I know some of these things probably help with mold, but caulk can get moldy, but mine does not. There is mold inhibitors in the Laticrete caulk I believe. Anyway I do think that the biggest factor in my mold free shower is that I dry it out every day. I don't use any chemicals. I just squeegee all walls and doors, and wipe down all caulk and chrome. I hate cleaning grungy showers (just did DH's in the basement :( Anyway, the wipe down takes a minute or 2 tops. I don't do anything to the floor because it is cast iron, but if it were tile I'd probably wipe it dry too. I much prefer this to how I used to clean the shower, using smelly sprays and inhaling them.
