Kordes Constanze Mozart "First Crush"
Comments (14)In what is probably no surprise, as the season has gone on, this plant has gotten better and better. I moved it to a more sheltered location, and the blooms have lasted a bit longer. Judy is right, it doesn't last long in a vase either, but on the plant they do about 5 days or so. The smell is pretty strong, and on the standard it wafts a bit in the humidity. All together I think it is a pretty nice plant and the color is absolutely perfect....See MoreKordes , Summer Romance and First Crush
Comments (7)Since no one else has answered yet, perhaps an early report will be of some value. A gallon own root Summer Romance from Chamblee's arrived early last June. Aiming for strong root & branch growth before planting out in this country garden frequented by deer, kept it potted & pinched to shape. Roses fully leafed out here now but not yet budded. Found Summer Romance & First Crush at the local Lowe's 2 weeks ago. Both were very eye-catching, covered in buds & blooms with heavenly fragrance. Would have snagged a few, but these were grafted. Chris of Newflora said on another thread that some of these two appearing at Lowe's are grafted & the rest own root. Hoping the next shipment will include the own root I prefer. http://forums2.gardenweb.com/discussions/3282514/first-crush-rose-by-kordes-at-my-local-lowes Believe both Summer Romance & First Crush became available only last year, so not many reports by gardeners yet. Searching this forum for each rose will turn up some comments. Comments (16)Well i think it is first crush after all and I may be returning it since I have one already. Darn . The way the buds split out on the stem ( I have no way to describe that !) looks like first crush and the hearts it makes . The darker pink center had me excited but it may be the cooler weather and the greenhouse to truck to cold .. here's some more of my other that looks like it may be snowgoose It's so cute ! I would have never ordered it but in person it's adorable. Heres my Fiji Love that they have recycled traffic cones into flower "patio " pots ! Comments (10)I think Lowe's has a 1 year guarantee. Maybe that would work on these roses. I was in our local Lowe's the other day, was looking at the roses. Just pathetic! Most were wilted, dried up, crying out for water. A guy who looked like a manager pranced up to me, all smiley faced and asked if I was finding everything all right - I said yes, but would you please get someone to water your poor roses? I am a rose person and it really bothers me to see those poor plants dying from lack of water. His happy face burst like a balloon and he gave me a blank stare. He pointed at a lady employee and said oh, that is her department. She apologized and said she has been really busy. I thought - doing what? Watching the roses die? Most of the ones on display were in death throes from lack of water. I strolled through the garden area later and she was watering - not the roses but ferns, etc. that looked just fine. Then they put the half dead plants on 50% or more off.....when they could have just cared for them and sold them at full price. Go figure! I haven't noticed roots like what you all described but will check. They are bad about mislabeling plants. I bought on another trip there a rose that had probably just arrived, looked great, beautiful buds. It is labeled Carefree Beauty but it most certainly is not. It looks like a pale pink double Knockout. Have seen the candy pink, pink blush, more like a single, but not one like this. And....the other day it produced a bloom that is half red/half blush pink. I have heard of KO's that occasionally do this. So who knows what it is? Its pretty - healthy and is going in my pink bed - and I WILL check the roots! Judith...See MoreSoFL Rose z10
