Hard green bumps on my tree leaves

Could anyone tell me what these bumps are on the underside of the leaves causing small holes. I have not seen any insects crawling anywhere but the tree is covered and is looking unhealthy. Also does anyone know what kind of tree this is? This tree is in Utah.

Those should be leaf galls. Harmless for the tree, it's just esthetic.

The tree might be a hackberry, it's hard to tell without closer pics

huggorm is correct, it is a hackberry, and the gall is known as "hackberry nipple gall" (caused by a psyllid).

Perhaps galls from very small insects. If so, cosmetic "problem" rather than damaging.

Sounds like mites. Hmmm, I think Donna just posted about mites on her bulbs from Japan. It's been a few weeks. Do a search of this forum for "mites" and you should find her post and the thread. K

Edemas. These bumps happen when water balance in the plant not balanced. Humans have edemas too for basically the same reasons.

hello gardengal :-)) The bumps are due to some previous insect problem.....very likely some sort of sucking insect, like aphids. They are probably long gone but I'd check the leaves, including the undersides, to confirm.

any leaf damage in august ... means little or nothing to me.. on a deciduous tree ... crikey.. they will be going into fall decline in 30 days or so ... and that is due to shorter days ....

there appears to be absolutely NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR PLANT ... if anything.. it grew so lush.. its sagging a bit ..

do not feed it.. do not spray it.. do not do anything ... wait!!!! .. enjoy it ...
