Builder bathroom, terrible paint choices

Hiya, sorry for the wall of text below:

I am trying to pick a 'forever' colour for a bathroom. Here's the background:

1. I don't remember what the original colour was.

2. When it was repainted 10 years ago, it was in this colour that I would describe as yellowy-pink.

3. Having had no choice in the first two colours, I tried to pick a neutral colour that was neither builder white, nor anything loud and offensive .

....

About the other fixtures in the room:

1. It already has a yellowish-white builder installed countertop. I'm not
replacing it; it works fine.

2. There's also a yellowish-beige shower
curtain.

3. The tiles are greyish, beigish. Nothing great, but not too bad.

....

As it turns out, I have no eye for colour..... in this bathroom anyway.

After putting a BM colour on the wall, I realized it was too yellow for the room. As well, everything looks more yellow due to the counter, the tiles and the lighting.

I then tried Utterly Beige from SW, which I thought looked okay when I tested it. After painting two walls, I stepped back in horror: the paint dried to what I consider a mid to dark brown.

I just want a neutral: not dark, not yellow, not white, not pink (I hate most pinks). Help!!
