Kitchen Aid stand mixer replacement grease alternatives?

We have a mixer that was out of service and moved a few times and need replacement grease. There is a very good tutorial for this HERE. However they also link to a $35 jug of "official" replacement grease (1 quart) which is ACTUALLY Benalene 930-2. It didn't take much searching to find it for less cost, however two things -

1. I've noticed the video shows a white(ish) color grease, yet many sellers show grease that is dark brown. Which is right?

2. I've found SuperLube grease that seems to fit the spec at Amazon and was wondering if anyone has used this as an alternative, and if it's safe? Kitchen Aid doesn't publish the specs of their "official" grease....

Specs - Super Lube Multi-Purpose Grease with Syncolon (PTFE) - 400 gram canister. Patented NLGI grade 2 heavy-duty, multipurpose synthetic lubricant . Long lasting. Prevents rust and corrosion while reducing friction.

  • Temperature range from -40 degrees F to +450 degrees F
  • NSF Rated H-1, approved for incidental food contact
  • Will not drip, run or evaporate, clean, non-toxic, non-staining
