Salsa - KitchenAid Stand Mixer - What Attachment
Comments (6)The KitchenAid attachment is only a single strainer type, useful for the tomatoes to make only a sauce with no seeds or skins. If you want a salsa, as mentioned, chopping the tomatoes will give you that. The other option is to use a similar machine, the Villaware (Roma) with their salsa screen that has 1/4 diameter holes. Even for that size, the salsa is only slightly chunky. If it were me, I would only use the KitchenAid attachment for tomato sauces, or for extracting juices from berries with medium size seeds....See MoreKitchenAid Stand Mixers ~ any thoughts on size, etc?
Comments (22)Hubby said the other day that our new kitchen will be complete once it has a stand mixer collecting dust on the countertop (he's hoping for homemade bread and goodies, I'm sure!). And so.....here I am, back on Appliances searching the archives for stand mixer info. If I'm gonna get one, I might as well get the higher wattage one---don't want to get one and then complain about it. Am I reading this thread correctly---that if you have 18" of clearance under your upper cabinets, the Pro 600 WILL fit? I saw the measurements of one, and I couldn't figure out which number is what dimension (I'm sure there's a std. way of writing measurements, but I don't remember it). I thought that the higher number was the height, but it looks like I'm wrong (19.4")??? What color looks best collecting dust (just kidding--I guess I should get a cover for it)? The cinnamon looks nice (I have medium cherry cabs, dark peacock granite, and SW Blonde walls; an accent color in the adjacent room is a clay or browned pumpkin color). Amazon has them for $300. I can get one at Kohl's for $310 after coupon and rebate. Is it better to get one local (but only 3 color choices--black, "nickel", and something else like nickel). Are these good prices? Thanks! Comments (41)I know! It's difficult! I used to sell Pampered Chef and "earned" my white one for free about 12 years ago. I admit I purchased the yellow today : ) With the $30 back and the free extra attachment, and 5 easy payments plus only $10 shipping I couldn't resist! Plus I used ebates and got 2.5% off that way. There's a free subscription also to Food and Wine Magazine or some other Travel magazine when you do the rebate. Unfortunately there was tax but still was a good deal : ) Good luck!...See MoreCarry case for kitchen aid stand up mixer
Comments (24)Hmmm, a second mixer might not be a bad idea and definitely have the extra % from Kohls....I'll have to speak to my son to see what he thinks. Yesterday on a trip to IKEA they had these shopping totes that looked right size wise but not super sturdy and no padding but I was thinking of maybeing reinforcing the bottom and maybe taking an egg crate and cutting it to pad the bottom and sides. It was only $15 and was something i could figure a useful life for if it didn't work. I found a rolling tote that would fit and seemed to be well-padded and fit the bill but when i showed it to my son, he was pretty shocked at the sticker price. I don't think it is worth spending that much for a "tote" for the random times she traipses it back and forth. We will have to discuss it further. But thank you everyone for all your great suggestions! I just love this website; full of smart and experienced people, and i love out of the box thinking!...See MorePaul R
