Hi Kudzu9, The next time you want the pictures to stay on the camera, simply copy them to the computer. The picture's were on the camera and I transfered 6 picture's from my camera to the computer. With this camera I can put a lock on them to keep from losing them by mistake. I always lock them in, but for some reason I over looked 2 pictures and forgot to put the lock on them. When I put them in the computer, 2 of them were not locked, had they been locked they would have stayed in the cameras memory card. There is nothing unique about it just because it is camera memory. I understand where you are coming from and you probably are more familiar with the digital camera than I am because when they first came out I didn't go out and purchase one right away, I was still using my old style camera. When I purchased my HP Printer I have never had a reason to use the slots for the memory card until now. For you it isn't unique because there are a lot more of them out there now. I am still learning about my camera and the software that came with it and as I learn I become more familiar with it too, it takes time but, I will eventually master how it works and if I run into a problem like I did this time, I trust that I can come here and get excellent help from you all. It's nice to know that there are other ways to do things in case you have to go that way and I saved your information just in case I would have to go that way. When my 2 youngest grand children were just little tykes I could take well over 150 photos in an afternoon and evening. Many were garbage as I kept the camera on my knee clicking when they presented a suitable shot. I have two young grandchildren ages 8 and 3 years and I take a lot of pictures of them also but, if I don't like what I see I have the option to erase them at that moment and start over. Why save them if they aren't any good right? You must be well coordinated to be able to keep the camera on your knee, if that were me I would be dropping it and getting pictures of the ground instead of the kids. "LOL" Because of that I went out and bought a small tripod for the camera (it also takes videos)and that way I can get better shots or take a video if I want to. It helps. Karen, if your family is anything like mine, until you lost your Dad, you hadn't seen a lot of loss or grief for someone. It's hard to watch it (and experience it!) I think I'd probably just call my Mom, if I were you, and ask her to your house to eat, to go out, to watch activities that the kids are involved in, etc. Let her know that it's okay to not be in the mood to do anything. Also let her know that you really WANT her to be involved in whatever your family is doing. My Mom has spent the night at my house two nights since my Dad passed away. Get this, I had to break my ankle and have surgery in order to get her to do that! LOL I kid her that having surgery is the only way she'll stay at my house overnight! LOL We live 80 miles apart and I call her everyday - usually twice a day. We've talked more by phone in the last four years than we'd ever talked in our lives. My DH and I and our kids and grandkids make it a point to at least spend part of every holiday at her house. She likes to stay home, so we go to her. I DO feel sometimes at her house, when everyone is there but Daddy, that there's the proverbial "big gray elephant" in the house that no one mentions. You know what I mean? Everybody is highly aware of the fact that he's no longer with us, but nobody wants to talk about it for fear of upsetting somebody else! Now, when it's just my Mom and me together, we cry (and laugh!) when we feel the need to. That's something else that I haven't thought to mention. Let her cry when she feels the need to cry. I guess you don't have to say a word, just be there for her. She and I both have talked about the fact that Fathers are the HEAD of most families. Then, as women, we both agree that the Mothers are the HEART of the family. Maybe you can reassure her in that way that she IS a vital, needed part. ((Karen))

If we were twenty again and just moving in, I agree with you, baymee, we'd put in radiant floor heat. Though I've never felt it, anyone who has says it can't be beat. As it is, we are replacing the original floors, which were beaten up when we moved in and have suffered from country traffic of countless dogs and farmers. We thought now would be the time but the price tag is just too high. If we just modify the registers to account for removing the south side of the house and put toasters in the reclaimed laundry room, staying with the existing boiler until death us do part, we will spend less than $2,000. If we go radiant, with new boiler, the price tag is in the ball park of $25,000. Silly me, I thought with a 820 s.f. house the cost would be half that, but apparently it is all those manifolds that drive up the price. With the money we save from standing pat we can pave the driveway -- a 40-year-old dream, since we moved in -- and replace the floors. But thank you very much for the names of those boilers; I'll save your note and pull it out when our system starts coughing. Deb

well said finedreams. For a man to suggest counseling, well I imagine it is a rare thing indeed. Nicksmom...re-read finedreams post, and then read it again. Can you then just ponder if there is any truth that you need to hear within her words? I am finding we are all so quick to dismiss (or defend) "our stuff" - and I find few people who have the guts to really listen, hear, and ponder what they perhaps need to really "hear" and to learn from. It seems instead that we all want to "justify" what we do, or explain it away, instead of stopping and really listening to how someone else perceives what we are doing. And to consider how we come off to others, and do we really get it, and are we willing to really hear, and use it as a road to change and growth? It seems to me that few people have the guts to simply listen without defending, justifying, making excuses for, finger pointing, (or becoming angry at the person who said something) etc., - to simply stop and listen. And to ponder whether there is any truth in the words, and are they willing to make a conscious effort to change habits or behavior that perhaps needs to change. When you come across someone who is willing to do this...I think it is impressive.
