Chinese Elm bonsai help needed

Hi,

I have a Chinese Elm that was 7 years old when I purchased it and I have had it for just over a year making it just over 8 years old now.

Over the last few months I have noticed the tree seems to be dropping a lot of leaves close to the main trunk and although it is growing new shoots, they are mostly only at the end of the branches (see photos).

Last summer the branches were filling up with leaves and it looked healthy, though now I am concerned there is something wrong with it.

I haven't changed my watering schedule drastically, I usually only water it when require, mist daily and feed once a week as per my bonsai feed instructions.

I'm now scared to prune the tree due to the lack of leaves that the tree will be left with if I cut back the longer branches.

I did move house at the start of this month but this has been evident since before I moved.

It is kept on the window cill as in the pictures.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
