It depends on what product you're using. With wooden siding, there are other options besides paint like semi and opaque stains. Stains offer different colors from paint.

Heidi you can go on the Sherwin-Williams website and look at colors there. They will look different in person but it will give you some ideas. When I was trying to find the right color for my front door I spent a lot of time on that site. I made a list and then went to the store and got the paint chips. The reason I did not just go to the store and pick out chips, well I would feel so foolish standing in the store for five hours. I am a slow thinker. I am happy with all the shades I purchased.

Yes, we saw this large selection of cool neutrals on the website and at the store. For non-experts, it is many to pick from and tough to figure out. We'd like to get a couple of paint color recommendations and then try a sample of each on the outside of our home.

SW Cloak Gray and SW Essential Gray look non green to me. Is your paint lighter or darker?

Emmarene - thank you so much! The Cloak Gray looks great. I'm going to get a sample to try on the side of the house. We have white trim, so we're looking for a dark one for good contrast.

I did and ending up getting a different sample than Cloak Gray (the chip looked a little purple in person).

Don't leave me in suspense. What did you take home? My guess is Peppercorn.

Granite Peak. We like it but we may try the next shade darker Outerspace, too.

So my guess is wrong. I like both colors you are considering.

Melissa, I will let you know and post pictures. However, this project probably won't happen too soon but hopefully by fall. (Note: After a day or two, the Granite Peak is too blue so we won't be picking it.)
